Air America UP 140% in LA & eating up oxyRUSHitlers audience!!!
http://blogcritics.org/archives/2005/07/27/133238.php

Excerpt:
In Los Angeles, KFI, the station carrying Rush
Limbaugh lost nearly 15% of its market share, dropping
from a 4.6 to a 3.9. KABC, another conservative talk
station continuing the pattern for right-wing radio,
fell from a 2.3 to a 2.1. Air America’s brand-new
affiliate KTLK, 1150 AM, gained in the first quarter
of its existence, going from a 0.3 to a 0.8, an
increase of more than 140%. Most in the radio business
say that it takes 18 months for a new station to
establish a consistent ratings pattern, but if early
indications mean anything, AAR is in for tremendous
success in the nation's #2 radio market.

HA HA!

OH WELL LIBRUL TALK AM BE NOT GONNA WORK! Yeah yeah yeah, suck my BUTT!

1. I Love TTLK!!
Johnny Wendel (former 80s punkster Johnny Angel!) is awesome. I really enjoyed his live/local show while Al Franken was off this week. I wish he had a Nat'l show so all you guys could hear him, he's such a crack up but dead ON at the same time.. DEAD on.

20. He's going to fill in for Stephanie Miller next week
so at least some other outlets (other than L.A.) will get a taste of him. I agree -- he's one of the best hosts on KTLK.

24. Hmmm...I Dunno!!
Maybe it goes station-to-station because I noticed that the other AAR stations played old Franken shows. I hope they don't play Best Of shows of Steph Miller, I like her show too but old current events shows are just deadly. I think they should always just call in a sub, if it were my decision there would NEVER by reruns on any of those shows!

12. Not to rain on the parade, but getting 140% growth is easy when you
start with 50 listeners.

and the other rw stations is significant. They're established stations.

7. Anybody got any other AAR station's ratings?!
I know Majority Report is now THE most listened to radio show in NYC on 1190 WLIB (HA HA WABC and WOR!) and despite what crap sites like Newsmax say, we know DAMN WELL that AAR MUST be up in ALL markets, otherwise, you neo-KKKons, explain AAR has NOT lost ONE MARKET, excluding the infiltration from the get go with LA and Chicago!? Oh gee, YOU CAN'T EXPLAIN IT! HA HA!

Also, WINZ 940 in Miami is up, with is a FIRST, cuz Crap Channel has tried and tried and tried to do ANYTHING with that station. They went from Summer 2004: 0.7, to Fall 2004: 1.2, to Winter 2005: 1.2...TO
2.0 IN SPRING 2005! I got this from http://www.radioandrecords.com
I'm sure the trend is set with all the other markets AAR is on it!

8. KTLK is pretty good.
They do Franken live, Schultz at noon and Randi, Majority Report, and Malloy delayed three hours.

Also, they have Stephanie Miller (daugher of former 1964 Republican Veep Candidate William Miller--yes, Goldwater's running mate). Her program is fairly tightly produced and has a good sense of humor. I'm still getting used to her schtick, though. Not entirely happy with it.

Because of Miller in the morning, they play Morning Sedition, one of my absolute favorites on AAR, in the middle of the night. I PodCast Morning Sedition every day and often listen to it instead of Miller. (Sorry, Stephanie!) Lawton Smalls RuleZ! Let's hear it for Future Marcs!

The worse thing about KTLK is that their signal is beamed into the ocean and here in the Inland Empire (east of LA) we're at the fringe of reception. I'd need to put up an outside antenna to receive them cleanly. Maybe they'll be able to update their Xmitters or antennas.

I podcast them both! Morning Sedition is my favorite AAR show and Stephanie Miller's show is simply delicious.

That Voice Guy she has is just amazing - - not only does great voices, but improvises hilarious stuff while doing the voices.

I stream the end of Stephanie Miller's show (or Morning Sedition from the AAR Sacramento station) and then AAR for Al Franken.

Springer puts me to sleep. I hope he doesn't last long on AAR.

11. In Dallas
KXEB (new AAR) went from 0.0 ratings to 0.5.
The station that carries oxyrush dropped EXACTLY THE SAME AMOUNT.
WBAP went from 4.6 to 4.1.
There is a movement out there...hoping people are catching on!

I like Mike -- but Randi's a vet and damn proud of it.

Heck, given the number of years OxyLimabugh's been on AFR unchallenged, balance him retroactively with Randi AND Mike. 'Nuff said!

26. I live in LA and I listen to AA all the time. They didn't have much of an
ad campaign, just a few billboards, so that is probably why it's taking as long as it is to build up. If they could do a bigger ad campaign, I think a lot more people would know where to find them.

28. Chicago...AAR Starts Good...Also Note Salem Stations
Comparing KTLK to KFI or KABC is fine, but the stations I like seeing ratings on are the Salem far right wingnut stations. In LA, that's 870, KRLA. Or they're on KSKY in Dallas, WMCA in New York, WIND in Chicago and in most markets around the country. These are the most rabid hate stations with Savage, Hugh Hewitt, Betamillion Bennett, Laura Coltergeist-Ingraham and other pathological liars. Salem's spent millions on these stations and their ratings are really taking a beating by AAR stations...most on poorer and weaker signals.

In Chicago, the daytime only AAR station, 850 went from 5 listeners (and 8 were paid) to a .4...that's a nice showing for a station that doesn't completely cover the entire market, has zero local programming and no promotion. The Salem station with Billboards all over the place is at a .5 and on a far stronger signal.

AAR continues to grow nicely...and these latest ratings gains will mean more affiliates and possible upgrades on Clear Channel stations.

Also...watch what happens to Disney in the next few weeks. They've been trying to shop some of their big talk stations...WABC, WLS, KGO, KABC and one of the interested buyers in Mel Karmazin and Sirius Radio.

As they say in the radio biz...stay tuned...

The current crop of ads on AAR in LA is a bunch of public service announcements, ads for The Nation and Mother Jones; and, someone thinks progressives are overweight, because there's endless hawking of the diet pill "hoodia."

39. The following are the ratings for my market...Denver/Boulder
KKZN-AM / Clear Channel / Talk / Sp'04 0.5 / Su'04 0.9 / Fa'04 1.6 / Wi'05 1.6 / Sp'05 2.0

I remember flipping through the AM dial one summer day. I had been listening to AAR online from day one. I had been writing emails trying to encourage them to get up an running in our market...it looked like we could swing either way...and I argued that we needed all the help we could get.

I followed the station additions closely. But the best our market was getting was rumors in inaccurate information. A NONEXISTENT STATION FOR OUR MARKET WAS EVEN POSTED ON AAR.COM FOR SEVERAL WEEKS!

But I remember finding it on their first day here vividly...because I literally put my car in park in the middle of a parking lot aisle...got out...and danced a jig.

I then spent the next 3 hours calling everybody I knew to tell them. And they have all been addicted since.

VIVA LA AAR!
