An unasked question about Judith Miller
I've been reading Arianna Huffington's fairly extensive post on Judith Miller and the way she threw her weight around while she was an "embedded" reporter in Iraq.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/theblog/archive/arianna-huffington/judy-miller-how-deep-do_4845.html

Add to this her shilling for Ahmed Chalabi, not to mention the carte blanche she seems to have had with the New York Times to print anything she damn well pleased.

I don't want to appear sexist, and I don't want to get flamed, and I don't necessarily approve of using an opponent's private life against them (though the Repugs certainly don't mind doing it to us), but a question occurs to me. WHY does Judith Miller have such pull? Is it because she's more "emBEDed" than we think? Or do we not want to talk about that? And if she's slept her way into power, just who has she slept with? And how many were married? And are any being blackmailed? Last time I checked, blackmail was illegal.

She may be a traitor, and I sure as hell don't think she's a martyr, but she IS an attractive woman.

Just speculating.

2. That's a flattering shot. She's not really very attractive.
But, then, men who are looking for some action--especially fat, ugly, Republican men--aren't really all that particular anyway.

15. For Some The Power IS The Sex...
The rush from the "action"...the attention...seems like Judy really liked struttin' her stuff.

I could care less who she slept with...she whored herself in far worse ways. No one died from whom she slept with (at least we know about), but nearly 2,000 American have died from her power games and orgasms on the front pages of the New York Times.

4. Rumor has it
she slept most of her way to the top.

Neither does she mind borrowing other peoples work and putting her name on it. The woman is a whore is more ways then one.

5. Attractive is right. She's attracted a boxcar full of cash as payment
for shielding the Bushista regime.

6. Here's how she REALLY looks.

P.S. Me thinks perhaps Mrs. Epstein had a little touch up since the first photo was taken.

I wonder how her hubby Jason enjoyed his Mediterranean cruise alone while Judy was in the slammer?

7. I think more likely is Miller is more likely "Mockingbird"
Operation Mockingbird is a Central Intelligence Agency operation to influence domestic and foreign media discovered during the Church Committee investigation in 1975 (published 1976):

"The CIA currently maintains a network of several hundred foreign individuals around the world who provide intelligence for the CIA and at times attempt to influence opinion through the use of covert propaganda. These individuals provide the CIA with direct access to a large number of newspapers and periodicals, scores of press services and news agencies, radio and television stations, commercial book publishers, and other foreign media outlets."<1>.

It is important to know that the word Mockingbird was first used by Deborah Davis in Katharine the Great (1979). There is no evidence that the CIA called it this. In fact, when Cord Meyer joined the operation in 1951 he said it was so secret it did not have a name.

...

From Carl Bernstein:

"Some of the journalists were Pulitzer Prize winners, distinguished reporters who considered themselves ambassadors-without-portfolio for their country. Most were less exalted: foreign correspondents who found that their association with the Agency helped their work; stringers and freelancers who were as interested it the derring-do of the spy business as in filing articles, and, the smallest category, full-time CIA employees masquerading as journalists abroad."

much more, here and elsewhere:

12. She chose to participate. Who cares if she sold her soul to do so?
Her ambition shit on the principles of her profession and the interests of this country. After she is charged/convicted/imprisoned, she may explain her choices so that we might understand how to prevent such human evil in the future.

13. I think you are barking up the wrong tree.
What the Repugs found was a willing shill at the Times. So, they gave her what they wanted her to print. And she did it.

Both sides were using each other. Miller thought she was getting big scoops and would be proclaimed a great "reporter". She wasn't too worried about the validity of her information, what mattered was that it was "insider" stuff. The Repugs got THE major newspaper to print their propaganda, unedited, on the front page.

The public got screwed, but not Miller. IMHO.

14. You're probably right
Certainly writing for the New York Times would be all the pull she'd need.

16. Partly true, acccording to...
this article from New York magazine:

http://newyorkmetro.com/nymetro/news/media/features/9226/index.html

For what should be obvious reason, the article doesn't go into much detail, but the dots are there to be connected, with directions.

The larger truth, according this article, is overriding ambition and the will to do just about anything to get her way.
