Anyone heard from Howard Dean recently?
WE THE PEOPLE need him. And if he is to succeed, he needs us.

I think the DLC diversion we've seen recently is just that. A diversion. Let's get back to the business of powering up a DNC machine that will be effective in 06, 08.

1. I love Howard!
and he keeps askin me for more money, to which I say, Did ya fix the machines yet? I have not gotten an answer to that yet, really, 2006, or 2008, the point is moot if they are using those paperless trail machines.........

12. I post his appearances all the time in GD Politics.
I am reposting some of them for you here. I would rather he be on TV and speaking out, but when he does that our own party tells him to shut up and sit down and talk properly.

I am tired of proper talk, and I want to see Mad Democrats all over the TV.

He says in the interview I posted above that we are just learning how to be a minority party. We don't know how to fight back. The criticism of him comes so much from our own party because the right wing tells the other Democrats that Dean is hurting their feelings.

4. He was in Houston last week, will be in Birmingham next week.
He is doing what he said he would do, talking to people in red states.

Howard Dean and Ken Mehlman both spoke at the convention of lay leaders in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church.

http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/printstory.mpl/politics/3283652

Dean acknowledged that black voters' reliable loyalty to his party had cost them influence. He vowed to change that.

"I know that the Democratic Party has not done what it should do," he said. "We have taken African-Americans for granted, and that was wrong."

Mehlman apologized also.

The DNC has a lot of the text of Dean's speech, and this part impressed me.

http://www.democrats.org/a/2005/07/excerpts_of_dnc.php

""Although we work on different paths, we are united by many of our common goals...

"Our values are far closer than some would have us believe...

"I want to talk to you about what Democrats stand for, and why we are Democrats. We believe that everyone is equal in the eyes of God. We want to bring people together around the common good, and we have a strong belief in the fundamental value of community...

"Many in the political arena want to distort moral values for their own purposes and ignore what's really important. Universally throughout multiple religions and faiths, the idea of reciprocity and treating your neighbor as you want to be treated is a basic tenet...

"I am not a preacher. That is not my calling. But in my public role as Chair of the Democratic Party and in my private role as citizen, I believe that I and we collectively are called to serve one another...

"You can not lift up your fellow man by cutting education programs such as Head Start, Pell grants, or by cutting community development block grants. You can not lift up your fellow man by cutting job training, and Social Security, and small business opportunities. And you can't lift up your country, if you cater to the lower laurels of human nature by using a political strategy that divides Americans by race or religious denomination to win elections..."END SNIP..

Dean and Jesse Jackson will be speakers next week in Birmingham.
Dean to speak at Southern Christian Leadership Conference on August 2 in Birmingham.

13. Thanks for this, madfloridian!
Now my broken memory recalls reading about Dean and Mehlman appearing together in many venues. Guess hearing Mehlman was there canceled out Dean from my memory.

8. He was in Montana and Denver recently. Great video from Denver.
http://www.harbertv.com/index2.htm

This is a very good interview with Howard Dean by Aaron Harber in Denver. It was the only interview Dean gave. It is an in-depth interview, and his Wall Street background shows through. About 15 minutes. It was so intelligent.

http://www.harbertv.com/index2.htm

Quote from a Denver paper:

"Harber was impressed with Dean, who is not, he emphasized, a raving maniac. "He's a smart guy. He comes across as very level-headed, very reasonable." Harber wasn't unfamiliar with Dean. "He married a college classmate of mine and I interviewed him seven or eight times on my radio show. It was an easy interview to do."

11. He never stops. He's like the energizer bunny.
If you haven't heard from him, just look around. Google his name to find his latest speech, rally, fundraiser, etc. I'm amazed at that man, I wonder when he sleeps.

The corporate media doesn't cover him much, unless he says something a repuke takes some faux offense over. :eyes:

14. Exactly, if the RW is offended, he sure makes the news.
And our party trips over its own feet running away from his remarks. But that's ok, it takes time.

Peace.

www.missionnotaccomplished.us - How ever long it takes, the day must come when tens of millions of caring individuals peacefully but persistently defy the dictator, deny the corporatists their cash flow, and halt the evil being done in Iraq and in all the other places the Bu$h neoconster regime is destroying civilization and the environment in the name of "America."

New Hampshire Democratic Party
Special Reception with Governor Howard Dean
August 10, 2005 3:00 PM

Common Man Restaurant, House Chamber room
25 Water Street, Concord NH

THE DOCTOR IS COMING! THE DOCTOR IS COMING!
"The NH Democratic Party is pleased to invite you to join us for a special afternoon reception with DNC Chairman, Howard Dean! Governor Dean will be in the Granite State on August 10th and would like to see you at 3:00 PM at the Common Man Restaurant in Concord at 25 Water Street. Tickets are $50 per person.

With so much going on in the world of politics right now—the Rove leak, the Supreme Court nomination process, the dwindling poll numbers of the Bush administration—it is very exciting to be able to hear directly from Governor Dean.

In addition to our main event there will be a more intimate pre-event reception. Tickets for this smaller reception, which will take place at 2:30 PM at Sulloway & Hollis on 29 School St. in Concord, are $150 and include admittance to the main event.

Space is limited at the Common Man and tickets will go fast (a recent Dean event in Pittsburgh sold out in a matter of hours!). Please click here to purchase your ticket today!"

Then he heads on to Boston for the evening rally for Democracy Fund holders.
