Why I hope Bush makes a recess appointment of Bolton
Folks this is the best thing that could happen for us. Number one it gives the Dems some great ammunition to further attack the credibility of the White House. Second, it keeps alive all the issues raised about Bolton lying on his Senate confirmation report and the fact that the White House refused to release the documents requested by the Senate Committee Dems. Third, this last fact will also tie into the refusal of the White House to have certain documents released on their Supreme Court nominee John Roberts. Get the picture - refusal to release requested documents!! There is a clear pattern of withholding vital information to the confirmation process. Translated.. their credibility is about to go into the toilet bowl and Bush's approval rating is going to go right with it.

1. I tend to agree-- it shows the utter contempt this administration has for
honesty, truth and decency.

2. I doubt that they would do that, it's worth too much as a distraction
to just leave it hanging as a threat, like abortion and gay marriage.

17. Well, as the ship sinks they have nobody to blame but themselves
They seem to be experts at doing this now, you would have to hope that they somehow know what they are doing, at that it is the right thing. Though I don't think so.

3. I agree
If not Bolton, some other Neo-Con toad will be appointed. Put Bolton in and let it blow up in their faces.

4. Then Bolton will be bush's personal representative to the UN.
Of course these frauds have been working without legitimacy all along, so does it matter?

9. Low but not in the toilet yet
When his approval hits the mid 30's panic will set in, especially for those Repukes who are running for re-election. Of course we still have to deal with fraudulent electronic voting which is another issue altogether.

8. I agree. It would also be wonderful to see Bolton, UN Ambassador
possibly being prosecuted for perjury or worse treason.

10. Hold It
Edited on Fri Jul-29-05 05:26 PM by ThomWV
The reason to oppose Bolton for the job of UN Ambassador is because the son of a bitch is unqualified for the job and hostile to the organization. He would be much more than an embarrassment to the United States, he would actively work to the detriment of the United Nations. That far and away trumps any political gain we might see as Democrats. Bolton must be opposed for the good of the country, and if that's not the very best thing for the Democratic Party, well, so be it. The party is not the point here, the nation and our place in the world is.

13. Exactly
I'm much more concerned over Bolton being a UN Ambassador than say Democrats getting any political gain from this.

15. So right except for one thing
Bush is threatening to by-pass the legal process of gaining Senate approval. This alone makes him look bad. But remember the whole reason Bolton was not confirmed is that Bush and the White House refused to turn over a number of critical documents that were requested by the Senate Committee Dems. Now Bush is saying that they are not going to turn over certain documents regarding the confirmation hearing on SC nominee John Roberts. What kind of message is this going to send to the American people. Right now Bush is tanking in the polls. I think this stupid move will take him down another big notch.

there's always the possibility of a frog march out of the U.N.

12. A plan if he does. I'd rather he didn't.
I'm tired of "Let him do it. THEN we'll get him."

This administration has done enough at this point. Enough.
