This HBO Special "I"m Swiss" has been incredibly hard hitting. Maher is doing a magnificent job. It repeats at 1 Eastern and Midnight Central.

3. really funny show!
He is still questioning (?) Bush sitting in class room for 7 min with absolutely no reaction. One of his better renditions of this story. Gotta watch this show! I needed the laughs.

This was taped before Rove's Troubles became news. I'm anxious to hear his comments on this when Real Time returns in August.

And I'm not trying to rehash last night's argument :), but I am asking in all seriousness: what leads ou to conclude that Bill Maher is a "prick?"

ADmittedly, I don't agree always agree with him 100%, but he's mostly on the money.

To paraphrase my sig line: If we agreed on everything absolutely, we'd be Republicans.

...he is a prick, and he doesn't pretend that he isn't. He has never said that he is a man of the people. But for my money he is brillant. He is the one guy that is saying things that other comedians and social commentators are afraid to say. He at least has the courage to stand up on stage and say what he wants and not give a fuck what anyone thinks about it.

43. I didn't care for it
I tend to like Bill Maher. Loved his last comedy special. I caught the first half of this and didn't find it funny at all. Most of it was just full on ranting. Which is fine, I suppose, but I tuned in looking for a few laughs.

I don't enjoy comedians who spend more time preaching than cracking jokes. Maher is more than capable of mixing politics and comedy effectively. I don't know what happened this time.

Your mileage may vary.

but I found less "funny" as the show progressed. I think perhaps it was because he was doing his "main" issue discourse. American over-medication, and over-eating. But I was cracking up in the beginning.

cognitive abilities are shot, as evidenced by his extemporaneous speaking moments.

Heck, even Dean struggles with "off-the-cuff" exchanges, yet he has core principles and integrity that he is able to express cogently, whether he is smoothly articulate or not.

There is no evidence when gwb speaks, that it is anything more than repeated talking points, over and over.

MKJ

BTW, gwb didn't win the election, his cronies in various levels of government and corporations won it for him. He just had to "show up".
