Computer geek question: does anyone know why these emails come ?
Edited on Thu Aug-04-05 08:29 AM by steve2470
Scroll down, please. As you can see, there is NO text, no subject line and I deliberately deleted, for my own privacy, all traces of my email address or email domain. Why do I keep getting this kind of email ?

3. testing to see if your email is valid
You can see from the return path that it's not from yahoo but from comcast where th message orginated.

Spammers use this to see if the email address is still valid. If the email doesn't get kicked back, they know they have a valid address.

That's my take on it.

5. if you can set filters in your account
you could block all addresses in the return-path, or some similar distinguishing marker.

in the world likely to have working email service ports. Your email address probably just came up randomly. But it's worth money to a spammer if it has been "verified".

Comcast is notorious as an ISP that cares only about money and not at all about the fact that its domains have been the most common source of trillions of spam messages.
