Good Morning DU! Lets go, lets rock and ROLL!
Cindy Sheehan and the Veterans for Peace along with the IVAW, MFSO and others encourage all of you to attend the National Convention being held in Dallas this week.

A special event has come up. Send out the word. Cindy Sheehan along with many VFP'ers will be in Crawford, Tx on Saturday morning. Cindy will be speaking right after one of the survivors' from Hiroshima speaks.

This week is the 60th anniversay of the US dropping the bombs on Japan. This week is the 30th anniversary of the pullout from Vietnam and the 20th anniversary of the founding of Vets For Peace. I didn't know this, did any of you?

This is a significant event and we are getting virtually no coverage, it's Dallas, don't you know.

That is where DU gets to come in!

Dahr Jamail is speaking tonight along with Colleen R (our whistle blower, woman of the year person) and oh so many others.

Saturday we get to have JIM HIGHTOWER@! He knows this bunch running this country from way back and he is lots of fun! (If I didn't know better I would believe he and Molly I. lived together.)

So here's to you all at DU. Numbers and names coming up soon if you are so inclined to aid us in getting media respect.

5. I received a subscription solicitation the other day...
and I thought that was the name of the newsletter's author. Its home in the pile of bills to be paid. It looked worthwhile

8. But what if...
...we are DUer's who happen to think that President Truman (D-Missouri) was quite correct in his decision to save countless millions of further lives by dropping a bomb in a wartime context against an enemy who'd attacked us first...
...and, further, how about us DUer's who believe that Presidents Kennedy and Johnson (D-Massachusetts & D-Texas, respectively) were pursuing noble goals when they introduced and later (under President Johnson) accelerated dramatically the U.S. combat role in Vietnam, regardless of how ultimately mistaken those decisions later turned out to be?
The author of the Fair Deal, the founder of the Peace Corps, and the only President in the history of the United States to honestly undertake a War on Poverty (and, incidentally, the signer of both the Voting Rights Act of '64 and the Civil Rights Law of '65) in the cross-hairs of criticism, huh?
Sorry: I won't be joining your pissing parade on three excellent Democratic Presidents.
No thanks.
