WP: White House would turn over phone records!
http://msnbc.com/news/973047.asp?0cv=CA00

(snips)
WASHINGTON, Sept. 28 — Senior Bush administration officials responded Sunday to allegations that White House officials revealed the identity of a CIA agent in an apparent retaliatory move against her husband. “The Justice Department will now take appropriate action, whatever that is,” national security adviser Condoleezza Rice said Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” MSNBC.com and NBC News reported Friday that the Justice Department has launched an investigation into the allegations.

The Washington Post reportedin Monday editions that White House officials said they would turn over phone logs if the Justice Department asked them to do so. But the aides said Bush had no plans to ask staff members whether they were involved in revealing the name of Wilson’s wife.

OK, Rice's comment doesn't sound very confident.

Bush is a moron. Let me get this straight, it's possible that members of your own staff have broken Federal law and YOU AREN'T GOING TO ASK THEM? HUH?

2. What do you expect from Chimpy?
Has anyone done a graphic of him as the three monkeys with hands over eyes, ears and mouth for this? (Of course, with him, the mouth is always open for bidness, but he does love to remain ignorant...maybe a foot stuck in the mouth for that one...)

3. Maybe Shrub figures...
Why ask the question if you already know the answer? Maybe he already knows. I just hope he's stupid enough to think he can run interference for the traitor. Or even pardon him. Either one would cook his goose, bigtime.

Kind of an interesting conflict of interest if it's Rove. Rove would normally be the one to tell him to screw the traitor to save himself (Bush). But if Rove is the bad guy I seriously doubt he has the courage to advise Bush to expose him (Rove) to save the administration. Come to think of it, same dilemma if it's anyone of several people.

6. "Prisoner's Dilemna"
If they both agree to attempt a coverup they're screwed because the press will eat them alive. -10

If Bush chooses to turn in Rove he may be able to survive because he would be the whistleblower. His reputation would be badly hurt, but at least he could have an excuse (I didn't know.) +3

If Rove chooses to turn himself in and publicly declare Bush had nothing to do with it, Bush (at least on this issue) would escape with only a small amount of damage. +5

Option four would have both Bush and Rove blaming it on eachother. Highly unlikely but still a probability. -10

10. Their play will be interesting to watch,
but I think nothing they do will forestall the investigation. Somebody's going to jail whether they resign, get fired or sit it out.

13. One more "Prisoner's Dilemma" to add to your list
Both Bush* and Rove keep silent until Andrea Mitchell or one of the other 5 journos who know rat out the culprits. Now it looks like Bush* was aiding and abetting a traitor. -10

7. Interesting note in this thread,
where Snazzy discovers that Ari's last day was the day of Nofacts' column!

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=427388#428157

And about those phone logs. For the Clark/Rove phone call flap, I believe they just revealed to reporters the result of their search of calls for Clark's. Why not ask them for the result of their search of calls to/from Nofacts between the date of Wilson's op ed and Nofacts' column? Inquiring minds want to know.

12. They're willing to give phone logs
because they know there isn't anything on them. They would be private cell phone calls to Novak. Thsi is another scam.

15. All cell phones are government property
Although getting at those records may prove to be a bit more difficult. They can't hide them though.

16. It would be easier under the PATRIOT ACT
that would be sssooooooo JUST

After all, this was a matter of National Security. Wilson's wife reportedly was working in the field of WMD. God! I think Novaks records can be searched without a warrant. He can be imprisoned without a lawyer. He can be held without being charged and without opportunity for bail. Even better, the SOB can be legally tortured! (oops I mean robustly questioned)

It will probably never happen but the thought of it is so ironic I just had to post it.

As if anything but a smokescreen is going down and the Bush administration won't come out of it looking as if they are honest fucks, seeking the "truth"

18. He didn't ask about Iraq seeking uranium
It still stuns me that nobody asked him whether HE followed up on that little insert into the SOTU. A rogue nation, that Bush says we need to go to war with, is seeking uranium and the POTUS doesn't FOLLOW UP???

Now we have a major CIA leak with, what, 70 agents compromised, and once again, the POTUS DOESN'T FOLLOW UP!!!!

It's just astounding.

22. Bush is using the Saddam tactic he hated so much
Make the inspectors do all the work, although you're meant to produce the evidence yourself if you are a law-abiding type. When forced to do so, cooperate as little as possible.
