Mr. Rove readies his plans for us
http://www.nytimes.com/2003/09/29/politics/29CAMP.html?hp

>snip<

WASHINGTON, Sept. 28 -- President Bush's political advisers have set in motion an aggressive re-election machine, building a national network of get-out-the-vote workers and amassing a pile of cash for a blanket advertising campaign expected to begin around the time Democrats settle on their candidate early next year, party officials said.

Mr. Bush's senior advisers, in interviews last week, repeatedly described the Democratic field as unusually weak and divided, providing an important if temporary cushion for Mr. Bush.

>snip<

Some major points in this article:

* They're going to attack us for being negative and for not having constructive plans. (Liars.)
* They believe the Democratic frontrunner will be battered and broke by early next year, which is when they will unleash their double-barreled advertising campaign. (Mr. Dean, if it's you, you're going to need everybody in your party.)
* They plan an unparalleled get-out-the-vote campaign.
* They believe they are within reach of victory in Oregon, Minnesota, New Mexico and Iowa.

I think we need to be looking at long-term strategies, folks. They are.

2. Yep, this was to be expected
The 2004 Election will be a fight for America's soul against the sclerosis of Totalism in both the Dem Party and the fascist elements of the Republican Party. And Dean is the only major candidate who consciously knows this.

Dean is the only one who can inspire the grassroots to go from their home state into swing states -- see Dean's Texas Rangers.

Next year the battle will be the Internet vs TV and Grassroots vs Media Pundits.

3. Sometimes, I say sometimes, there's not enough money in the
world to make someone shoot themselves in the head. The point? All the money in the world will not save the Rethugs in 04'. Between the war, the economy, their crimes, the CIA case, and a never-before-seen level of grass-roots support for whomever the Dem candidate is going to be, Bush is toast. There is no way in hell he can legally win the upcoming election.

As election time nears, I think we will all be amazed at how much support there will be to oust Bush. It will come from all over the nation, and around the world. Even Hollywood will get in on the act. The fascist bastards in the media, and Bush's allies in PNAC/AIPAC/JINSA/JDL/Likud will do their damndest to save his ass, but it just won't work.

I see a negative passion against Bush I haven't seen since Nixon at the height of Watergate, and it spans all political persuasions. Only Bush's hardcore right-wing Christian whacko Republcians, and their right-wing Jewish allies, will stick with him. Mark my words. I've been involved with politics for over 35 years, and unless they steal it in some way, Bush is going to lose by 20%+. Bookmark it here.

4. Notice how none of that
has anything to do with the issues. It's all about bashing Dems and money, with more of their unjustified bragging about how popular they are.

They will win Oregon, Minnesota, New Mexico and Iowa just like they will win the votes of blacks/Jews/Democrats/HIspanic, all of which they have falsely claimed.

Black, Jews, etc will NOT vote for them, and the same thing goes for those states.

6. Astute observations Sangh0, but a mild correction is needed in
your statements. Not all Jews or blacks will vote Dem. As for why any black person would vote for Bush, it is beyond my comprehension to understand. Why are Colin and Condy working for the man, and his party of racists? Strange things do happen. But, there are a number of Jews who will vote for Bush. Thankfully, they are a minority of their demographic, but, right-wing, Likud/PNAC/JINSA/JDL supporting Jews will vote for Bush. And because several of these people are in powerful positions in the media, their clout (within the media, and within this administration) is magnified well beyond their actual numbers.

Be that as it may, events sometimes have a way of steamrolling over ones desires, and so it will be in this case.

5. Letter from James Carville today.....DONATE NOW!!!
The next 24-48 hours are crucial. We told you that President Bush's national approval ratings are at record lows.

Now, a new poll in Arizona -- a state that Bush won in 2000 -- shows that just 34 percent of people there think that Bush should be re-elected.

But while Bush's plummeting poll numbers are a good thing, it's also a very dangerous thing because it means Bush is cornered.

So get ready. The GOP's dirty tricks machine is gearing up. And we need your help right now to stop it.

Bush can't run on his record. After all, he's lost 3 million jobs, turned record budget surpluses into record deficits, squandered the world's goodwill, and used America's foreign policy to reward Republican fat cat campaign contributors while sticking you with the bill for his failures.

That means the only thing George W. Bush and his right-wing henchmen can do to win the presidency is to wage an unprecedented smear and attack campaign against the Democratic nominee.

Look at how John McCain was beaten up by extremist henchmen in the 2000 South Carolina primary after Bush lost the New Hampshire primary.

Then again in 2002, they shamelessly attacked Sen. Max Cleland -- a war hero -- with dishonorable and malicious tactics, going as far as to question his patriotism and courage.

For 2004, Bush has already raised $78 million dollars to use against the Democratic nominee. Who knows what this desperate President Bush will do as we head towards the 2004 election?

Republicans will make this the dirtiest campaign in the history of politics -- and your Democratic Party needs your help now more than ever to counter the right-wing smear machine.

We know we've been asking you to give a lot lately. You have made the Carville and Begala Challenge a huge a success. For those who have contributed, thank you. For those who haven't donated, now is the time. You can't stand on the sidelines for this one -- we need everyone's help.

Our important fundraising deadline ends on Tuesday September 30th, so give right now. Whether we raise $100,000 more or a million more, be assured that your contributions will be used to stop Bush and right-wing's desperate attacks, put a Democrat in the White House, and help elect Democrats at all levels.

So put on your helmet, batten down the hatches, and fasten your seat belt -- the fight starts now!

Together in victory,

James Carville & Paul Begala

P.S. Be sure to keep up with our progress at the Carville & Begala Challenge page on Democrats.org! We've passed our $500,000 goal, but we're still going strong! Let's show George W. Bush and the Republicans just how serious we are about winning in 2004.
