Jeb, Big Sugar have pro-Envionmentalist Judge Ousted....
http://www.naplesnews.com/03/09/florida/e10682a.htm

WEST PALM BEACH — The federal judge who has presided over the Everglades restoration for more than a decade was removed from the case on Tuesday following complaints from sugar growers that he favored environmental groups.

U.S. District Judge William M. Hoeveler had repeatedly made comments about the Everglades issue to reporters. He criticized lawmakers and the governor for approving legislation this year that environmental groups contended would jeopardize federal funds and delay the cleanup.

Hoeveler's removal by Chief U.S. District Judge William Zloch was a big victory for U.S. Sugar Corp. The company, which led the fight against him, contended Hoeveler had become too politically involved in the issue by lambasting state lawmakers and lecturing the governor.

2. I hate my state government. I really do.
Not only is US Sugar running roughshod over environmentally sensitive lands Katherine Harris's brother (A florida House member), or cousin, is proposing more sprawl into the Glades from Miami.

These stinking money whore deserve jail...And if I ever have anything to do with it they will.

3. I am sorry, but I have to agree with this move...
If the Judge has been getting involved in commenting on political issues that surround cases he is involved in he should recuse himself or failing that should be removed.

The fact is judges are meant to be completely impartial. We can't criticise right wing judges for bringing their personal politcal viewpoints into a trial and then expect left wing judges to be able to do it.

The reality is that this is the judges fault. He SHOULD NOT have been commenting to the press on issues surrounding a case before him, and HE is the one that gave the right wingers the ammunition they needed to get rid of him. He sabotaged himself.

He should have confined his opinions to the courtroom where he made his judgements.

Having said that, it is disgusting that once again corporate interests win out against the environment. Hopefully the next judge on the case will be impartial and thus favourable to the environment WITHOUT compromising his position.
