Comedic pit bull Sam Seder just teased to the break with this question to Arianna Huffington, positing that THAT's why she's getting the sort of treatment she gets from the Times, as opposed to what they did in those other highly publicized cases of journalistic malfeasance.

they didn't go into the sexy, fun part. Arianna said they shouldn't use sexual speculation to dilute the story, which is huge in and of itself

what she DID say was paraphrase former Timesman Bill Kovic (sp), who, I'm sure she wrote in one of her posts, told her that the Times rule on anonymous sources SPECIFICALLY allows a reporter to break the vow of anonymity if said source is A)lying, or B) leaking information for partisan advantage

this must have been discussed before

she also said that Sulzberger is THE only force in the newsroom, and that all major decisions go through HIM, not the editor

but, then, they'd have to do that on how many other subjects, like, oh, say, when he twice said that Saddam wouldn't let the inspectors back in, so that's why we had to invade.

they NEVER called him on that gigantic, bald faced, press conference LIE!!!!
