What has Bush lied about?
At this point, Bush has lied about a lot of things. Too many for me to keep track of. Often I hear a coworker or acquaintance claim something that I know is not true or trumpet Bush as moral. Would it be possible to please compose a list of all the lies Bush has told with no extra commentary? That way we can print it out and just say "Here. HERE are the facts. This is just the facts and they speak for themselves"

Please help.

1. Geez...what a list. How about...Saddam was involved in 09/11, for starters
That is a complete, bald faced lie that too many stupid Americans bought into, unfortunately.

5. I think someone beat you to this...
A few weeks ago, someone here posted a list in outline form. I'm pretty sure it was a list of *'s lies. Anyone else remember this? Sorry, I can't think of a key word to search for.

7. The best example I can give you
and I don't have time to look up quotes right now, but in 2001 before 9/11 at a UN meeting to discuss sanctions being continued against Iraq, bush's minions testified to the UN that Saddam Hussein was not a threat to his neighbors, was "in his box", had no dangerous weapons, could not project conventional power on his neighbors and on and on because of the success of sanctions. A little over a year later, well, you know what they were testifying then!

11. That he would preserve, protect and defend the constitution of the
United States.

That he would be " a uniter not a divider".

That he would fire any WH staff involved in the Plame leak.

12. The first lie was that he won the 2000 election.
Well, no, I guess there were lots of lies before that, too.

That's like asking the question "JohnnyCougar, when have you breathed?"

Pretty much my whole life (aside from a few asthma attacks :-) )

15. One that kills me:
The UN Population fund. He defunded the frigging UN Population Fund on the grounds that it was "complicit" with China and their "one-child" policy.

In 2002, even after the administration's own investigators found that bizarre claim to be untrue, the funding was cut off. And in 2003. And again in 2004.

"In 2002, the Bush Administration bowed to domestic politics and abruptly reversed course on UNFPA funding – reversing not only an agreement on legislation passed unanimously in the US Senate and by a 3-to-1 margin in the House, but also previous Administration policy. In his first budget proposal to Congress in early 2001, President Bush requested $25 million in funding for UNFPA. The Administration also approved the release of $21.5 million in fiscal 2001 funds for UNFPA. In May, 2001, Secretary of State Colin Powell testified to Congress that UNFPA “provides critical population assistance to developing countries”. Again in late 2001, the Administration signaled its support for UNFPA’s lifesaving work by providing $600,000 in funding to support the agency’s humanitarian efforts on behalf of Afghan refugees.

The Administration’s decision came in response to allegations by an ardent anti-family planning organization that has long made false claims that UNFPA is complicit in Chinese coercive family planning efforts. To investigate these charges, the Bush Administration sent its own three-member team to China. The Administration’s expert panel determined that UNFPA does not directly or indirectly support coercive activities in China and recommended release of the appropriated funds for UNFPA. Nonetheless, the Administration decided to cut off UNFPA funding."

and

"Experts estimate that the $34 million from the United States could have prevented two million unwanted pregnancies per year, 800,000 induced abortions, 4,700 maternal deaths and 77,000 infant and child deaths."
--both quotes from http://34millionfriends.org

Culture of life, indeed.

16. my favorite Bush lie
Remember how Bush's people trumpeted the fact that he'd supposedly never been out of the "good, ol' USA", as if this might be a good thing?

Bush stated, a few months back, that he'd spent a summer on a sheep ranch in Scotland. I didn't know we'd claimed Scotland as a 51st state. Must have slept through that.
