Seriously, I just got done watching Nightline and I realized something. This guy needs protection. A LOT of protection. He needs ten bodyguards. His family needs an additional ten. Here's a guy who is in the middle of the biggest scandal in a long time and he's probably just being driven around by one or two people.

And oh yeah, Joe Wilson shouldn't fly on small planes. Heck, Joe Wilson shouldn't even fly. Joe Wilson should be in witness protection or something.

1. I hope he owns a bulletproof vest
I also hope he has a full detail of invincible ninjas to trail him at all times.

In all honesty though, the cat's out of the bag. If something were to "happen" to him, you'd have to have an IQ of 7 not to be able to put that one together. I think anyone who gave the British government the benefit of the doubt when David Kelly (cough cough) "commited suicide" (cough cough --- bullshit --- cough cough) would have the scales fall from their eyes in a pretty decisive fashion were that to happen, god forbid.

2. I would think and hope that Wilson and his wife have already
thought this all out and maybe they are already getting protection. Not sure if from CIA, but they have to know that they are a target, not only from bushco but from the rightwing nutcases out there.

Please be safe, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson.

5. Wilson came out publicly to protect himself and family
He's such a high profile target now, that he should be safe. Once his wife was outed he immediately started talking to anyone who would tell his story. There have been many articles on the left defending him and his actions and calling the outing an act of treason. And obviously at the same time the CIA was working behind the scenes calling for a DOJ investigation. I think with his wife's ties to the CIA, even as an agent who has lost her undercover protection, she has to have resources. Larry Johnson who was on PBS tonight (former CIA agent, repuke) was even defending her. Spooks will take care of their own.

That doesn't mean I don't wish them both long and happy lives. Bless them for standing up and not taking the threats from this regime.

Sonia

6. The Dems should introduce a bill for the government to provide protection,
at least through the end of the investigation and any subequent legal proceedings. Dare the R's to oppose.

7. I think they're reasonably safe now,
given their profile, the protection of the CIA, and Wilson's having gone on the record. The greatest damage he could do, I think, has already been done.

I do think others are at risk, though, like possible whistleblowers and perceived weak links who might say too much when giving testimony. If there's a cover up, and I think there will be, some people could lose their lives.

8. I suspect...
...that they have some protection through her status. I assume she is still employed by the CIA even though she may be on non-duty status of some kind. I also suspect that many, many career professionals with covert training are interested in protecting the Wilsons.
