"Noble Cause" -- Liberation of the Iraqi people?

That's kind of the meme that's going around. What do I tell freepers who throw that at me?

This isn't about "freedom."

Nation building is not a noble cause. This is something the UN was formed to do.

quite the opposite. the women who had rights under saddam will now lose their rights.

In the 1800's it was the native american that was the terrorist. Burning settler's homesteads because the white people were bringing deadly disease to their families, and raping the land that gave them sustenance. I would fight to the death to protect my people if I were one of them!

I am really sick of American arrogance when it comes to armed conflict. We seem to never have the moral high ground. Accuse me of hating America if you like, but don't tell me that we are saints.

I would ask the freeper just when it was that the invasion of Iraq or Bush's Folly, as I like to call it, was determined to be for the liberation of the Iraqis. It certainly wasn't mentioned in PNAC's writings, nor in W's SOTU address in 2003, nor in any speech until AFTER it became 110% clear that there were no WMDs nor 9/11 connections. I think it was reason number 28 given by * for the invasion.
