Don't want to sound repetitive, but the tide is definitely turning!

Snippet from the Johnson County Sun (KC suburb):

"From the very beginning, the media has couched people against the war as anti-troops and I am frustrated," he said. "I haven't known anyone who is against the war who is anti-troops. ...

"If you want to send troops into a war that was fought on false premises, then how is that being for the troops?"

Bush and members of his administration suggested before the war that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, including materials needed for making nuclear weapons, but no such weapons surfaced, Bill said. The revelation of the Downing Street memo, he said, raises further concerns about why the administration went to war.

"(Bush) needs to come forward and get straight with the American people," he said.

Bill abruptly halted the conversation: "They're asking for a moment of silence for the people who died."

During the moment, Bill kept the phone line open and members of a pro-Bush contingent of about 15 people, some bearing American and Texas flags, could be heard shouting against the protesters.

Bill said American troops should be placed in harm's way only when necessary. He said he comes from a military family, others at the rally belonged to Veterans for Peace and a few had lost family members in Iraq.

"The people standing here are patriotic Americans and a lot of these people have given their children to this effort," Bill said. "You can't leave (readers) with the impression that this is some kind of hippy-dippy, anti-American thing. These are absolute patriots."

3. I wonder how much Bush paid them

to disrupt the protestors. I guess those Wal Mart jobs aren't enough to keep up with the rising gas prices.

4. I know! Unbelievable. But that is how disrespectful and hateful
they are in Camp Sicko.

5. I sure hope Bill and his wife know about DU.
They both sound like eloquent, thoughtful-minded people.

6. Wow good find
I can't believe that was in The Sun. I usually throw it out. I am so sick of Steve Rose and his (supposedly) moderate Republican views.

If I do read it, I just read the Talk Back section. I like that part - the idea of being able to call and say anything you want and not leave your name is pretty neat :)

Yep, I have called in many many times over the years.

8. Proud, we need to let them know we appreciated the coverage.
This was much better than most of the canned news I see on the local TV.

10. I wouldn't train my dog on The Sun
It's kind of like the Paducah Journal or the Joplin Globe, minus the journalistic flair and the long list of Pulitzer-winning reporters. :puke:

11. Did you read the article? Better than any coverage I've seen in the
KC Star.

14. LOL
How true.

But that Talk Back section really rocks. They get flame wars going over dogs running loose and garage sales. Life in Johnson County can get pretty wild you know.

15. Joplin Globe is weak...
the only paper i read around here that is worth anything is the Arkansas DEmocratic Gazette, is okay, but for being trapped in the baptist hell hole of SW missouri, the paper is a good read...

13. I was surprised to see that too. I usually flip through The Sun,
get disgusted, and recycle it. But sometimes it does show a glimmer of sanity. Last week Steve Rose actually wrote an editorial opposing TABOR (The Taxpayers' Bill of Rights, a horrific idea if I ever heard one).
