Clintons lose Whitewater appeal
oh, well. Can't have everything go your way.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The federal government does not have to pay for the bulk of former president Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton's legal fees arising out of the Whitewater independent counsel investigation, an appeals court ruled Tuesday.

The Clintons had sought reimbursement for more than $3.5 million in lawyer costs stemming from the long-running probe of the failed Arkansas land deal.

1. It certainly should be reimbursed. With profound apologies!
At this time I don't think many Republicans would like to be asked about their behaviour over Whitewater. But they should be!

2. Re. Whitewater investigation.
I love irony. That's one reason I take a taste of Rabid Radio every once in a while. Yesterday I heard one ashhat spewing that one reason not to allow the Democrats to take over control of Congress again was because of their penchant for harassing investigations. He cited Iran-contra, October surprise and the current Niger yellowcake fiasco. Hmmm... I noted at the time... there seems to be an eight year gap in his list of examples of bothersome investigations. I love irony.

3. This is no surprise
this appeals court is the same one that appointed Ken Starr and fired the first independent counsel. It's extremely conservative/partisan and has a history of reimbursing Repubs who are investigated, including Reagan and Poppy Bush, and not Dems. BTW, the statement that this investigation would've happened regardless if Bill Clinton were president is complete bulls***.

4. They're more than justified today
Bush will get paid for fucking the country, while Clinton had to pay dearly for a blowjob.

5. The good news is that...
Between her book's sales and Bill's book's advance money, they can still MORE than cover the $3.5 million now---something they couldn't do while he was still in the White House.

(Of course, the bad news is that he is NOT still in the White House!) :eyes:

B-)

6. Wish they could sue Starr
for malicious prosecution but I'm sure he's protected from that.
I'm halfway through Susan McDougal's "The Woman Who Wouldn't Talk".
It's basically read-a-chapter, :puke:, read-a-chapter, :puke:.

7. Glad to hear it! Not for Bill and Hilary, but because...
That means we can take every friggin penny outta *'s bank account when packs of Democratic Party lawyers with briefcases and dorsal fins take them down.
