I'll vote for John Kerry before I ever vote for Wes Clark
and you know how much I love John :eyes: but at least Kerry has been a Democrat for a long time and has served in civilian public office before deciding to run for President.

Clark isn't even registered as a Democrat --
http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/dnflash/oct2003/nf2003101_0874_db038.htm

And with him raising funds for Republicans in 2001 and praising Bush and the PNAC gang, Clark will never get a vote from me. There is no way that Clark should be the Prez nominee and Dem Party leader after the news about him being an Independent.

that's a paraphrase of a Harry S. Truman quote. I'm sure you didn't intend to imply that Clark said it, but I just wanted to make sure you knew to whom the quote should actually be attributed. Thanks!

Btw, Clark has come out against the PNAC agenda, regardless of how much "praise" he gave the "PNAC gang".

Horrors! An independent! Like most of the country! Back, you evil Satan independent!

(Oh, now I"m just joking around).

21. I've seen no evidence Clark is far right, have you?
He's not even a Republican. In fact, on his professed opinions, he seems to be slightly to the left of Dean. I don't think I've ever called Dean far right, but I do have a problem with him on several levels, including being straight about his *centrist* record--not that he is a centrist.

What makes no sense, IMO, is all the DUers who say "Don't Label Dean! He's unlabelable!" when things come up against him, but now are going ballistic over Clark not wearing the correct name tag.

My major concern is to beat Bush. I support Edwards for that reason (among others), and I like Clark's chances of doing so. In fact, since most Americans are independents, I'd say his chances keep getting better.

I have to be a Dem to be on that committe and the chairperson does vet prospective committee members before asking the other committee members to approve candidates for the committee. I was vetted and passed.

A Clark nomination would be a sham and a final death blow to the integrity of the Democratic Party and those that lead it.

30. Oh yeah? Well, how many more of our agents abroad...
Do you want "outed" by "Chip" Rove? COOL YOUR HEELS, folks! Gen. Clark SAYS he's a Democrat; therefore he IS one! LOTS of people who are "registered" Democrats in my neck of the woods are, in fact, Repubs in everything but name--they vote Repub--and often for those of the Jesse Helms stripe--they act, talk, and think like Repubs. Except for the Dem. primary, of course, where they vote for the weakest candidate hoping he or she will get the nomination, thereby hoping to make their Repub favorite a shoo-in in the fall.

Wes Clark SAYS he's a Democrat, TALKS like a Democrat, and, in fact, he ACTS like one (heck, he voted for Al Gore in 2000; what more can we ask of him in the most recent presidential election?). :eyes:

It's time to be shrill about Dub, "Chip" Rove and "Nofacts", and the TREASON they've committed, NOT to pile on Gen. Clark just because he's taking appeal--and potential votes--from your favorite presidential candidate. If you don't want him to be the nominee, work hard for YOUR man (or woman); don't make ridiculous threats or "snipe" from the gutter at another candidate. I won't do that to Howard Dean or John Kerry for anything; (and certainly won't do it to my home-state senator!) please don't do it to my candidate!

B-)

voted for Gore in 2000, then turned around and helped the repubs raise money in 2001. remember, in 2001, the repubs were on top of the world, and Clark wanted to be on their side. now it looks like the repubs are losing, and Clark wants to be on the other side. that my friend, is opportunism plain and simple.

what more could we ask of him? how about consistency and loyalty.

43. That's not what I said...
The 9 original Dem candidates were at least members of the Dem party for years. I may disagree with them over positions they have taken, but at least they have been Democrats. I would vote for any of them, including Lieberman who I despise, but my enthusiasm is not transferable from Dean to the other registered Dem candidates. They would have to earn it; however, I'd bash Bush constantly.

Clark is a registered Independent and should be disqualified from running for the Dem nomination. Allowing him to feign Democrat does a great disservice to the Democratic Party. He's a blatant fraud and if he does win the Dem nomination, then the Dem Party is dead and has no integrity.

His supporters have turned me totally against him. They verify for me by what comes out of their mouth more about his candidacy then anything Clark or his handlers might spin. The type of people he attracts, the ferociousness of their attacks on anybody who has a question, and their total disdain for the "left" is enough for me to be completely turned off. I will vote for him if I have to but I am not impressed.

49. I'm not so concerned about the registration
However, it does bother me that he was fundraising for the repubs in 2001, (supposedly?) made the comment that he would be a repub if Rove had returned his call, and praised the Shrub administration AT ANY POINT.

I'll admit this right now- I was one of the people who thought he might be a good candidate for us. But these things ARE valid concerns.

Some (not all) of the Clark supporters are apparently incapable of admitting that he has any faults, and that's just ridiculous. If you refuse to admit the obvious, your audience will not listen to the rest of what you have to say- no matter how valid it may be.

While I haven't ruled out voting for Clark in Nov., I do wish he and his campaign would actually address these issues. Even his supporters addressing them would be nice, rather than simply blowing off people who want more information before pledging allegiance to such an unknown.

Yes, I am a Dean supporter. And no, I don't think he's perfect at all. And no, I have not been fooled or duped into supporting him.
