What about Audobon Zoo...
...and the Aquarium of the Americas? What's the plan for those places? Anyone heard?

The aquarium is above river level, if I remember correctly, but the zoo is uptown.

4. Not for those animals, it's not...
...or for the people who have dedicated a lot of their time and energy to looking after them.

5. Yes but...
there is a situation developing where NO could be totally inaccessable and 100000+ people will be without clean water.

10. Zoos should all have emergency plans, but lots probably don't
they rely on "luck"..

The sad thing is that animals are "special needs" creatures, and it's hard enough caring for them where they live.. To evacuate them in probably financially beyond the capabilities of most zoos..plan or not..

It would be almost more humane to euthanize them, than to leave them to starve or drown

I hope I am never in a similar situation.. I could NOT leave my babies behind..

9. Bullshit.
Some of us, many of us, are jsut as worried about the animals as we are the people.

6. The plaza for the aquarium
is right on the river. You can stand at the fence and look down at the water. I was there this summer. But it is all concrete. (The plaza) The actual exhibits, etc., I just don't know. In my opinion they would be vulnerable, being so close to the river.
