You can tell by the way they are talking.
I've been around people scared and in shock and I've spoken w/ them. Pretty common to sound like that.

26. Last night the guy on WWL looked like he was going to have a heart attack.
He was an old geezer. Camille and Betsy happened well within his lifetime--possibly when he was a young weather caster. I got scared myself watching and listening to him--24 hours ago.

27. And he's right to be scared.
A friend of mine has studied emergency crisis and disaster management (I also took a few courses in it and would love to go back to finish). She is normally a rock-almost nothing phases her. Last time I heard her get upset was w/ the tsunami.
I spoke to her on the phone tonight. She sounded choked up. She said that the evac was too late w/ the resources that they had for the area and that, if the storm doesn't change, she expects the worst.

17. I tell you what those three anchors are a bunch of fatalists though
They must be scaring the shit out of some people I think. I know it looks bad but they are really dwelling on the bad things. They need to be reporting and not making it so personal so people can get the information they need.
