My Kingdom for a Cheney Quote!
Ok first off, my kingdom is rather small. :) I might be able to give a DU Star or perhaps something from the DU Store to anyone who can find the info I need.

I remember seeing a quote from uncle DICK back when he was in congress years ago, he said something to the effect of of "Americans SHOULD be paying 2-3 bucks a gallon for gas."

Thank You in Advance!

1. How about this?

In October 1986, when Dick Cheney was the lone congressman from energy-rich Wyoming, he introduced legislation to create a new import tax that would have caused the price of oil, and ultimately the price of gasoline paid by drivers, to soar by billions of dollars per year.

"Let us rid ourselves of the fiction that low oil prices are somehow good for the United States," Mr. Cheney, who is now vice president, said shortly after introducing the legislation.

<…>

he cost of Mr. Cheney's plan ultimately would have been passed on to drivers and other consumers through higher prices on gasoline and other refined petroleum products. In addition, he said in a February 1987 statement, he supported the tax partly because it would "assist us in reducing our budget deficit."

2. Here's one from 2001

VICE PRESIDENT DICK CHENEY: Well, it I suppose if you think you've got a crisis, if you turn on the wall switch and you don't get any power, you've got a crisis. If your gasoline goes from $1.25 a gallon to $2 a gallon, the American people think they have a crisis.

I think we've been fairly consistent in terms of how we described it. What shifts is the public opinion out there based upon the problem at the moment. We do have a tendency I think as a nation sometimes to be very shortsighted in our time horizons. The press, on the one hand, sometimes are saying, "oh, it's a terrible practice what are you going to do about it?" The next day it's an overblown deal; there's no crisis here, because gasoline has dropped a nickel a gallon since last night. And it's a lot more complicated than that. These are long-term problems. It takes years to get to develop some of these projects, and it will going forward. What you need is consistency out of government over time. We need to create an environment in which we can address these issues and take them on, not expect that there's going to be an answer and the problem will go away tomorrow. You have to deal with it year in and year out.

4. Not a specific $$ amount, but.........
Dick Cheney's gas tax plan
You've heard the one about John Kerry's "support" of a 50 cent a gallon gas tax -- it's the subject of a Bush-Cheney ad even though it was part of a bill Kerry didn't even vote for. Today, the New York Times gives us one more reason to believe Bush-Cheney is being hypocritical on this gas tax charge against Kerry. It turns out that none other than then-Wyoming

Congressman Dick Cheney introduced legislation in 1986 to create "a new import tax that would have caused the price of oil, and ultimately the price of gasoline paid by drivers, to soar by billions of dollars per year," the paper says.

"Let us rid ourselves of the fiction that low oil prices are somehow good for the United States," Cheney said then, shortly after introducing the legislation.

6. this isn't it- but while searching, i found this, and it made me spit
water all over my keyboard-

from April 30 2001-

"I am often asked why I left government after 25 years back in 1993, and I explained that there were two reasons, really; one, we lost an election; but secondly, I explained that I had reached the point in life where I was mean-spirited, short-tempered, intolerant of those who disagreed with me, and they said, "Heck, you'd make a great CEO." So that's why I left government."

time for him to leave again- actually, he never should have returned-

still looking-

i was begining to feel pretty nausious reading his words-

"CHENEY: "The good Lord didn't see fit to put oil and gas only where there are democratic regimes friendly to the United States." (The Cato Institute, 1998)"-

ghwbush had some nasty remarks about Hussien and 'our oil' addiction pre gulf war one, as well.

Gonna go shower- i feel like i've walked through a bunch of yucky stuff-
sorry i couldn't find your quote.
