Our gas went up 11 cents in one day
how is this not price gouging by the oil companies? Bush could order a freeze on prices but thn several of his buddies could only afford one lear jet next year.

1. Of course it's gouging. Gouging is the essence of capitalism.
Gas prices in the Puget Sound area did likewise: went up at least 10 cents per gallon as soon as it became obvious Katrina would hit New Orleans. Food prices will soon follow.

2. I filled up both our cars yesterday @$2.47/gal
We're both retired & don't drive much. I'll make short shopping trips in husband's Plymouth van and save the gas in my Focus for a trip we have planned the middle of next month, when I'm afraid gas will top $3/gal.

It may be the last one we make for a long time.

3. I filled up last night for $2.47 too. . .
out of fears that gas prices would skyrocket this week in wake of the hurricane.

I only have a Mirage and was at just under 3/4 a tank when filling. . .like 3.6 some gallons and $9.00. I'm on a grad student budget - I can't afford too much of this gouging.

4. $2.47? that's chesp, Gas in Fla. has reached 2.73 before hurricane!
