If these poll numbers stay the way they are Davis should quit

to stop the recall. Then ARnold would have to go home and Bustumante would be governer. Arianna set a very good example today in quitting to keep the right wing from taking over and Davis should do the same if it comes down to it.

On more than one thread you have been corrected - the law in California does NOT allow for a recall to be called off because the official being subject to a recall vote resigns.

It appears that you want a conservative takeover in Sacramento. By continuing to push the idea that it is a loss cause, you appear to be attempting to encourage people not to bother voting.

You realize that up and down state government, every department and agency - the heads would be let go to be replaced by appointees.

Who would "moderate" Arnie appoint? Well he doesn't know much about state government (as is clear by his campaign) and he doesn't have a long history in politics to have made the contacts to know personally qualified (moderate?) people. So he would rely on his political advisors *cough* Pete Wilson *cough*. Sacramento would be transformed into bush's DC.

I can not believe that you seem to be intentionally working towards this end.

Disgusting.

Bustamante would be governor until the election and then the winner of the election becomes governor.

The only time Davis could have done that was before the recall signatures were certified.

That is what it says in California election law.

Davis should have resigned long ago, and let Bustamante become Governor. Bustamante could have then appointed Davis Lt. Governor. Then Bustamante could have resigned, and Davis would have become Governor again. And then Davis could have appointed Bustamante Lt. Governor, and everything would have been back to normal. And the republicans would have been out a lot of time, money and effort, not to mention madder than rabid wolverines in a rowboat.

9. Yes you can under the recall law

If Davis quits now, it does not matter. The recall goes on. This is too important to mislead others on. The only way to stop a Republican from taking this Governorship is to vote no on the recall and yes on Bustamante.

11. I may be wrong

but I do believe that once the signatures were certified, the recall had to move forward...even if Davis quit after that. If he would have resigned PRIOR to the certification of the signatures then he could have stopped it. If I'm wrong, someone will correct me, I'm sure. :)

It's too late to quit. There will be a recall vote no matter what. If Davis quits there would still be a recall election.

He has to fight it to the end. It's still vote NO on the recall and yes on Bustamante. That's the ONLY choice to keep a Democrat in the seat. ONLY OPTION.
