Chris Matthews: No one ever predicted this
What a lie. It was predicted and predicted and predicted. How much can one man do to cover up the gross incompetence of the Bush Administration? The only thing he didn't do was suggest the catastrophe was linked to John Kerry's service in Vietnam.

8. Exactly the same.
Ignoring existing information does not mean that it doesn't exist.

4. Umm as far as I know
there was talk about this from Saturday.

If the administration was actually serious about this a proper response would have been in place - before hand in evacuation, and the aftermath regarding the search/rescue, and the immediate aid.

Instead he says they are "putting together" an aid package now, two days after. This is beyond incompetance.

6. The Discovery Channel Had An Hour Show About It Last Year
That is the only reason I knew that the damned city was under sea level. All that asshat Bush had to do was change the fucking channel and he could have seen it too. Pretzel eating trash.

9. From the American Prospect from May 2005.....

And, of course, there has been many discussions about the potential damage to New Orleans which goes back years. Chris Matthews is a liar. I really can't stomach to watch the guy.

11. Guess Matthews never read the NINE articles (2004-5) in Times-Picayune
that screamed warnings that Bush's budget cuts would bode ill for New Orleans when the next hurricane struck.

14. Just like no one predicted that the war against Iraq would backfire
and create an Islamist Republic with ties to Iran instead of a bourgeois individual-freedom loving republic with ties to the West.

Like no one could have predicted that the massive occupation and the resistance (which likewise no one could have predicted) would give rise to the use of torture.

Like no one could have predicted that all of the WMDs in Iraq would mysteriously elude discovery even though all the claims made about their presence had been debunked already before the war began.

Like no one could have predicted, after witnessing the catastrophic flood of the Midwest in 1993, that levees would fail in the event of a Cat 4 hurricane mowing down the New Orleans area.

BASED ON HIS RECORD OF ABJECT & UNIFORM FAILURE, NO ONE COULD HAVE PREDICTED BUSH'S RESPONSE TO EMERGENCY IN THE GULF WOULD HAVE ONCE MORE BEEN A TERRIBLE FAILURE:
I mean...you'd think he'd be falling over himself to do SOMETHING right for once.

15. First Condi, then Andrea, now Chris "no one ever predicted" talking points
But of course that's why you're saying that Chris. Because they did in fact predict.

Perhaps they also predicted someone would could with the scientific expertise (HAARP) create a hurricane like Katrina.

20. Idiot. Louisianans grow up knowing about this.
FEMA ran an excercise earlier this year based just on this.

Ivan brought this up.

I was even writing a disaster screenplay about something like this. Not gonna finish now, obviously...
