If we don't focus blame where it belongs, Bush Admin will blame NO's mayor
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 07:25 PM by Karmadillo
That he's African-American is simply a bonus in their eyes. Just now on Olbermann a reporter alluded to the anger NO residents feel toward the mayor. Nothing about the Administration's failure to adequately fund Army Corps of Engineer projects, nothing about inadequate preparation for this disaster, nothing about ignoring well documented warnings this catastrophe was waiting to happen and was, to a large degree, preventable.

What, exactly, can we do to mobilize anger where it belongs? The Administration, not for the first time, has betrayed this country at a huge cost. I worry leading Democrats will be hesitant to criticize for fear of being accused of "politicizing" the issue. Imagine, however, if Bill Clinton were President. The right wing would already have it fully established in the public mind he was completely responsible (and if he had behaved as cavalierly as the Bush Administration, they would be right). They fight so hard, even though they fight so unfairly. Why can't we match their efforts?

2. Pound your local papers with info
I've just sent the links to three articles to a local black journalist, suggesting that he do a story on Katrina's effects as "collateral damage" in the Iraq War on America's own poor/black population.

These are the stories I sent:

Notice the date on this story--LA National Guard Equipment in Iraq

5. Is NO a Democratic city? Hasn't Bush been withholding federal
money from Democratically controlled cities and states? Here's proof. Don't let the Repubs frame the issue.
