Shouldn't I be seeing hundreds of Military planes
Flying over New Orleans, doing relief work, or Military helicopters, flying in, surly they aren't all in Iraq.

The footage I'm seeing is, a whole lot of trapped people, and no one their to rescue them.

If a television network can send in helicopters to film these people, surly the military and send some helicopter in to rescue these people, I'm sure they must have some pretty good ab sailing equipment that the Military guys can use to egt to these people.

Such a noble cause, you know. :sarcasm:

4. USN, Indian Ocean tsunami
large relief effort, carriers and other ships making water, helicopters carrying it in, and, IIRC, hospital ship.

10. There are dozens of military helicopters in the FL Panhandle
At Whiting Field, Pensacola Naval Air Station and Hurley Field.

Why these haven't been mobilized is beyond me...

8. If we had a REAL president -- aid would be there already
and more on the way.

A General or an Admiral would be directing the military's efforts.

And yes hundreds of planes and boats and ships would be involved in the efforts.

9. what would planes do over New Orleans?
if they had supplies, they'd be taking them somewhere else for truck, boat, helicopter transport. there's nowhere to land nearest to the disaster sites.

i was watching the news earlier and saw plenty of helicopters and small boats arriving and working. in one overhead shot from a helicopter i could see two others hovering in the distance, at ground level over some houses.

keep in mind that not all helicopters/crews are equipped for the kinds of things that need to be done.
