Bush cut funding to NOLA levee projects...but NOT to fund the war in Iraq
Come on people, Bush doesn't give a damn about how much debt he runs up to fight his war for oil in Iraq. This guy doesn't give a shit about budget deficits. As President Cheney said "Reagan taught us deficits don't matter"

So, he didn't cut the funding for levee projects to divert funds to Iraq. He cut funding to cut funding. Period.

Now the question is, given all the warnings for years about the seriousness of the threat of NOLA flooding, WHY DID BUSH CUT FUNDING THE LEVEES??

Follow the money, folks. Follow the money.

2. Excellent read.

"Over the past three-and-one-half years, FEMA has gone from being a model agency to being one where funds are being misspent, employee morale has fallen, and our nation's emergency management capability is being eroded," he wrote. "Our professional staff are being systematically replaced by politically connected novices and contractors."

The fact is, nobody has the slightest idea of what to do. It's as if these people were on their very first job.
