Hey! Anybody thinking about pitching a DU show

on Al Gore's new network?

Wouldn't that be great to have at least one hour-long show that let DU types get their view across?

Think of all the great Liberal commentators we rely on (Mike Malloy, Randi Rhodes etc.,) It would really be great to see some solid liberal/progressive voices on that network.

Anybody thought about that yet?

I watch it sometimes. It is a very good network. I could see it becoming more popular than FOX or CNN...but I'm an optimist. :)

On what we could do to help it along?

THREE hour showcase of (mostly) DU commentary

How do we make it work? Well DU is "privately" owned, so we'd need to begin with permission from the Admins. If they support it, we could end up creating something truley unique -- a democratically created show. Here's how it could work.

Have an online application/audition process. Resumes, reels and proposals could be posted online. People could "apply" by posting their info on DU.

PRODUCERS: Would post their ideas for what the show would be about, its format, etc. along with their qualifications.

DIRECTORS and other PRODUCTION PEOPLE: Would post their resumes and reels.

WRITERS: Would post their resumes and samples.

HOSTS/COMMENTATORS/NARRATORS: Would post their resumes and reels.

Then we DU what we DU so well. We discuss and debate, and when the we are ready, we vote. Ta-Daa! A DU show created by its members.

Oh, yeah. We'd need production facilities, of course. Not sure how that happens.

That said I'm certain that we could broadcast live with available technology. Sadly it'd probably be cheaper that Guy's current radio program ($4,500/month).

This is a very good idea.

Guy could host and we could have regularly scheduled caller/reporters and guest hosts/co-hosts.

If the DU powers that be would put the site behind it I think we could get this going.

Maybe the good folks at DU should be asked if they would allow inquiries?

I mentioned this to Guy and he said it was an interesting idea.
