Merh has called again! She says she is okay. Her main needs are ice and

water and that FEMA is supposed to arrive tomorrow at an undisclosed location with these things. Merh had a very trying experience staying at her sister's house during the main part of the storm. She said waves were crashing into the house and the water rose and filled the first floor causing a gas leak from the gas appliances being ripped away. She isn't staying there any longer, but is at the house of a neighbor. They have a generator and merh is getting the news on television.

However, she has very little left to her name. I told her that people here are ready and willing to help, but unfortunately there is little we can do for her personally at this point. There is no way to get anything and sending money is futile because there is no place to spend it.

Merh also asked about Maddy. How wonderful can a person be, who in the middle of losing everthing, has the grace to ask about another person?

She is also asking about a poster named HeeBGbeez who apparently worked at the humane society in Biloxi. Does anyone have any information on this poster?

Overall, merh is in good spirits and knows that a house is not a home, but she admits to suffering from some PTSD.

I know I am stating the obvious, but please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

HeeBGBZ...I don't think I spelled that correctly...but I think that is who she is asking about.

I'm glad she has a safe place to stay. Please tell her I am thinking of her.

I am horrified to hear her experience, but am so glad that she is ok.

I am quite concerned for heebiejeebie. I read this morning that she lived in Gulf Port, and there is not a lot still standing there. There are survivors, but it is hard going for them. No water, no power, no way to communicate, no assistance. I hope she is well and finds assistance soon.

She's been through a terrifying time.

Also the right PTSD drugs can really help if she is reliving the experience. So get thee to a counsellor or at the very least..talk the story out and out and out and out - again and again and again & again.

She should be ritualizing with her neighbours and family. If they can - sit in a circle and go around and around and recount all that has happened. Get it out - community is so important.

Also websites that list all the medication for PTSD and rate them exist.

She doesn't know about her boss or his family.

Now, I have no idea if she's a kid but I'm getting to the age where everyone is a kid. That was some spooky experiences she went through there. If she wants to hang around in the southern east coast for while she is welcomed to hang with us.

She is with her family and her furry family. I will tell her of your offer, though. She was moved to tears by the offers of a roof over her head. DUers are really, really good people. :hug:

I'm so glad to know she's alright. I'd be glad to send her any extra clothes in my attic, and if they don't fit her, maybe they'll fit someone she knows who's in need.

If you can PM me her size clothes and shoes, I will start haunting the many local yard sales to find things she can wear until she can buy her own wardrobe.

There is also TONS of baby and kid clothes and toys at these local sales in Eastern Massacnussetts. I'd gladly get some and send them south to people with kids but no home if I knew where to send them. If merh has any specific requests for herself or others - there is a TON of all kinds of stuff at these sales and it is very inexpensive and in good shape. I take advantage of it myself as much as I can and friends often put in their "orders." Sales are every Saturday until it gets too cool or it rains. (Normally, sales on three-day weekends are also very thin.)

I cannot say I feel much sorrow for the repukes who inflicted this upon themselves but I can say that I can relate to those who have tried to do everything in their power to prevent this tragedy and others.

I suggest she contact MoveOn.org. Perhaps through their vast network she can arrange some temporary housing situation and living arrangements.
