OMG Vargas is blasting the FEMA guy
She just said "There are no NG, no FEMA, no aid workers, "Did you just simply fail to prepare for this disaster?", to the Head of FEMA.
You could hear her outrage. The media isn't gonna let this go.

6. Did she say category 5, HELLO?
The thing is, if it was approaching at a Category 5, it wasn't going to turn into a tropical depression at the last minute. *Any* hurricane is bad for the gulf region, particularly New Orleans.

So this is a major fuckup on their part.

What if it *had* been a category 5?

13. "What if it *had* been a category 5?"
If it had been, I think everyone in NO, who stayed, would be dead. I think if the storm had been a Cat5 and had not moved slightly to the east, the tidal surge would have taken out the levees without anyone having a chance to get out. Some places east of NO in the direct path of the storm had water come in ten feet or more higher, than the wall of water that hit NO. I remember reading long before this storm, that the engineers in NO thought that a cat 3 might destroy the city, if it were a direct hit.

9. I damn well hope the media doesn't let this go!!!!

I am sickened by what has happened, and I have only watched about a half hour of coverage of the aftermath.

This bastard administration KNEW on Sunday, that this was a Cat 5--heading toward NOLA--a city that sits below sea level. They knew the potential for devastation and most forecasters were saying that the system weakening was doubtful.

Why did they fricking do NOTHING?????

They should have been preparing National Guard, first responders and other emergency personnel when they knew a Cat 5 was headed toward NOLA.

I don't watch that much television, but I've seen documentaries on NOLA and how it is a city that is incredibly vulnerable for devastating floods--should a hurricane hit. This is not rocket science, folks! Junior should have been galvanizing and amassing a response days ago.

I rarely swear, but the man and his thug administration are 14-karat fuck ups! They should have been in there with helicopters and boats...rescuing people!!!

This happened more than 48 hours ago---and people are still stranded!

This is such a travesty!!!

That's what you get, when you elect a myopic, selfish, raging alcoholic twit to the Presidency. The man was TOO DAMN busy with his political public relations stunts to think for one frickin second about what he should do about this hurricane.

The man is a complete abomination and I hope he frickin bastes in the publics' RAGE at his incompetence and recklessness.

Fail at college, fail at every business endeavor, fail at getting legitimately elected, fail at Social Security, fail at keeping the country out of unprecedented debt, fail at war, fail at holding your own with the mother of a fallen soldier-----I guess we shouldn't be so darn surprised that he failed on this one too!

10. If she had done her homework, she would know that...
Bush took away 70% of FEMA's budget and it has been downgraded to an irrelevant agency. They took virtually all of its money for the war and for anti terrorism.

Katrina is a form of terrorism of its own. You'd think that the government would realize that we deal with natural disasters every dang month in this country of one sort or another. A terrorist attack--how often in this country?

Can we get some perspective here???

16. I think it's Elizabeth Vargas (is it 20/20 she reports for?)
It was the head of FEMA guy, but I didn't hear the whole thing cause I'm in another room on the computer. If any West Coaster's could fill us in on the other details, it would be great. Normally, I would have ran into the other room, but, I broke my ankle 6/28 and still ain't walking yet running.
