1. I read earlier that the water level
had stabilized with lake Ponchatrain. In other words, it's FLIPPIN FULL. So, yeah, it's stopped. Can't get any fuller.

2. The flooding hasn't "stopped" , but the water isn't rising any more.
Still lots of water, but I don't believe it's still getting deeper.

8. Now they *can* fix the levees.
Much easier with lower water flow through the breeches.

6. Fortunately there are no other tropical storms headed their way
Tropical Depression Lee (the next name in the alphabet after Katrina) has apparently stalled in the Atlantic and won't form a hurricane. All those poor people in New Orleans would need right now is another hurricane. Apparently, the National Weather Service has predicted a very heavy hurricane season this year, especially between August and November. I certainly hope they can get everyone to safety before another storm arrives and refloods the city, if another one hits in that area this season.

7. I recommend a silly movie
and a beer before bed.
I know you have to be overwrought.
Tomorrow will prove to be a test of sanity. Trust me.
3 days without food and water and in flood conditions in the heat--the stories we have heard so far will be considered fairy tales.
It will be grim.
