Lots Of Hopelessness ... Can Anyone Offer Hope?

I hope it's true that it is darkest just before dawn. It's pretty goddamn dark right now. I just lost my best friend today, and I am still numb. But I know there are people suffering far worse as a result of this hurricane.

It is going to take a while, we are in a state of real collective depression, and it seems worse for those of us who saw it coming (by which I mean most of the folks here). I have lived through the first energy crisis, and terrible inflation, and we do somehow manage to survive, even if we do not like what we have to go through to do it.
Keep the hope, fellow Wisconsinite. You know we are made of pretty stern stuff up here.
I am sorry about the loss of your friend. Tomorrow is the anniversary of my mother's death (killed by a drunk driver) and I am having a hard time with all of this 'black cloud' myself. We need to try to help each other see our humanity and never lose all hope.

I do believe that it is darkest before dawn. I was greiving recently too, and I found it a huge comfort to have someone to hug, a lot. Sometimes when we're the most frightened, a human touch can be so comforting. Sending you tons of hugs tonight. .:hug:
