Latest Political strip on Bush's inspection of New Orleans

Fellow DU member Dotcosm came up with this idea and I tinkered with it a little (I changed the hand gestures just a tad :P).
Based loosely on an old Doonsbury strip. It was done pretty quick but I hope the message still comes across.

maybe "loyal subjects" - "fellow" implies he sees us as equals or peers...altho he does say "fellow Americans," but only when he's talking for the benefit of the proles.

Good call! That was the toughest part of the strip actually and I wracked my brain for an half an hour trying to come up with how he would describe the people of New Orleans and had originally put "Fellow Americans" but it came off as way too soft.

I almost put "loyal" but decided that if I put "fellow" it came off as if he didn't realize how much they loath him, even when he calls them "subjects". The simpleton that doesn't realize he's actually the butt of the jokes but thinks everyone adores him. Kinda like the guy who insults co-workers but thinks he's just being funny. Does that make sense? Probably not. :rofl:

You don't need a ghost writer, and I think it works either way. I'm just tired from endless Katrina-watching and let my editor-alter-ego type before I thought about it. What you *don't* need is some completely-unknown-to-you DUer giving you tips on your art, which is frequently inspired (the one of Cindy and the tank still evokes goosebumps; I remember watching the original Tienamen confrontation live).

So, again, my sincerest apologies for presuming to jump in and edit. And now, I need to take the hint from that and go get some sleep.

I was always a HUGE fan of his strip in our college newspaper, maybe I'll post some of those sometime (mostly depicting the Bush Sr. Admin.)
