The Weather Channel pre-storm coverage predicted all that happened...
All that needs to be done to counteract the spin, backtracking and lies from the misadministration, news moles and trolls is to go back to the HOURS of endless, superb Weather Channel Katrina coverage. Levee breach, utter destructive storm capability, need to get out of the way - it was all there, repeated over and over and over and over again. Even IF the storm was to reduce from a 5 to a 4, they stated, it would still be like a huge F2 or F3 TORNADO in its destructive capability.

Once again, we have utter proof that this Emperor and those he chained himself to have NO CLOTHES...NO IDEAS...NO EMPATHY....and NO SHAME.

IMPEACH NOW!

1. The problem is that you have the usual pundits repeating that
this was not predictable. I believe the Leslie woman said it and so did Chris Matthews yesterday.

7. I saw Chris Matthews last night and was sickened
He was talking to the NBC Science correspondent and the subject came up on global warming.
Matthews pointed out that one hurricane did not prove that global warming was an issue, the correspondent agreed and Matthews said "Glad to Hear that"
They didn't bother to mention the last two seasons have been more active than normal and the forecast is for more intense storms this year.
The wanted to make sure the regime is off the hook for global warming.

He also kept talking about this giving terrorist ideas on how to attack the US, is he trying to pin the hurricane on terrorist

21. Last night he was spinning global warming and the possibility that
terrorist would get ideas, as if terrorist could do this to any city.

11. I don't think it's going to work
For most people - especially people in the region because for days before they heard the forecasts, the warnings, the predictions. Pundits who pretend that non of this was said are simply going to destroy their own credibility.

It worked with 9-11 because the briefings were classified. My parents spend more time watching the weather channel than I spend on DU. They're not alone.

2. The excuses have started
Chertoff and the Mississippi governor but there are no acceptable excuses. They were all warned and yes Weather Channel was amazing.

16. I was listening to radio in NOLA
since Saturday and they sure discussed the real threat to the city. That was the reason officials insisted on mandatory evacuations. The Feds have no excuse here. We're not discussing people without cable in NOLA - we're discussing the reaction from the government. Lies and spin won't work here. They were warned. Further FEMA itself knew all about an impending disaster if NOLA was hit by a serious hurricane. In academic and environmental circles, New Orleans was a major discussion for years and years. This is what happens when intelligent design supercedes scientific data. Fugg all of them.

3. Yep, I watched it
Dr Lyons laid it all out -- the worst case scenario -- over and over again and told people just how bad this could be. Other meteorologists at the WC repeated over and over again that this would be a hurricane causing CATASTROPHIC damage, levee breaches and the flooding of NO itself.

Any claim by the govt that there was no foreknowledge of how bad this would be is a lyin' sack o' shit.

6. The warnings came Years ago....The city was a disaster waiting to happen
that the levees were not brought up to date was a big factor in the flooding part of the storm...the cutting of the funds by Bush is glaring.....

20. But It was Bush that cut the funds to help fix the prob...it is Bush who
stayed away from showing real leadership, instead he chose to stay the course with his Vacation...chopping off 40 hours of it to look good.

4. Dream on....
....all this was known before this tragedy and sadly this will make the rich even richer with the *recovery* attempts in New Orleans...thoughts of impeachment or ridding ourselves of these vultures is pure folly....the ones who HAVE will take full advantage of this situation and become even more wealthy and the poor will die...their control is here to stay I DARE SAY!

13. The Weather channel, the National weather service ...
the meteorologists on CNN ... The problem wasn't with weather prediction ... the local governments evacuated their residents (and gathered info from those that refused) ... The only people caught "unaware" were the fed.'s and FEMA ... of course our president was "shocked"

Yes, I agree with "everyone" the weather channel was very persistent and consistent in their warnings.

the experts at the weather channel predicted this exact scenario on sunday evening...AT THAT POINT....the national guard, generators, cell phone portable stations, food, water, and ships needed to be deployed...at the minimum...this sob waited until tuesday...im so furious at the ineptitude of this administration...no wonder Iraq has been such a bungled disastr..look who is calling the shots...and if this any indication of the way we operate...we are in pitiful deep crap...i couldnt sleep tonight ...woke up at 2:30 am....the news channels are focusing on the looters...what would you do?...if no food or water was available?..walk past the convenience store?....i think not....how dare anyone like o'reilly pass judgement..how dare they...the blame lies at the foot of an inept and arrogant administration...yesterday i was so angry i could hardly breathe...we are all affected by this nightmare....those people are begging for direction..the little girl begging for help while the news reporter took video footage and left her there keeps playing in my mind...who did that?...how could someone do that?...sunday evening the experts at the weather channel told Geraldo that they would go on record that this would definitely happen...and the president makes plans to go to california...wtf...and strums a guitar while the biggest catastrophe in our lifetimes is escalating...unbelievable

23. The same poor people who don't have cars usually don't have cable
I don't know what the local coverage was like, but people also might have been desperately trying to find rides out of the city, to no avail.

We would be similarly screwed if a flood ( or some other disaster) struck Detroit and bus service was shut down. It's not very likely, as the Detroit River is a connector between two great lakes, and not prone to surges or floods.
