. . .yikes, that is harsh. She is going off. Oh my god I had a crush on this woman when she was an interactive reporter for MSNBC, but her CNN run has turned me off, but I might be back in love.

3. When she interviewed Carville
she kept trying to GOAD HIM into saying that the relief effort has been (insert your favorite here: slow, inept, non-existant, incompetent)

Carville wouldn't take the bait but clearly Soledad is appalled by what she's seeing.

This is the first sign of humanity I've seen out of her....

4. I saw her too. She's on the one. She tried like hell to get Carville
to trash the effort. No luck. What the hell has happened to him? Has he gone to the other side?

7. He probably doesn't want to politicize it.
You can say that things aren't getting done without pointing the finger, though.

9. Carville is from there--no sense in pissing all over the effort
Also, he is smart not to make this a Democrats vs. Republicans thing.

The people will see what is going on, and make up their own minds without ANY help from him.

WRT the tsunami, that was an international effort, too. We were just one player amongst many (a large role was played by the US Navy) in helping to start recovery in that mess. Remember, Clinton got up out of a sickbed to help, and slept on the floor of the plane so Poppy could have a bed.

makes me feel that there is no hope.

17. Tip O'Neill, a political genius IMHO
said it best: all politics is local.

We've got people right now feeling the pain directly--houses destroyed, lives lost, jobs gone--this will affect their political decisions.

We have people who are not directly affected yet, but feel profound compassion for what is happening down in NOLA.

We've got some thoughtless people in this country, too, who do not give a sweet shit about those poor folks in distress, but they are going to feel the pain at the pump, at the grocery store, at the malls, when they have to pay their heating bills, and when higher gas prices and trucking expenses increase the price of goods across the board and their paychecks aren't keeping up with the inflated costs--that's going to affect their political decisions, too.

And we have more storms on the way...this shit does not end until November, remember. Who knows which way they will blow, and what and how hard they will hit???

21. I do too, he was my neighbor (not next door, but I would see him often
around town--a lovely, lovely man, always kind and cheerful, never to busy to have a word with anyone). His wife Millie passed not too long ago.

A helluva fellah, as he used to say!

in my heart. Even as a kid I was mesmorized by him. Watching TeeV when I was a kid I'd always recognize him.

WOW. RIP Tip O8)

10. No, he was too busy trashing the poor
Saying they had ample warning to get out. How smug and idiotic can these people be?

I cannot imagine someone publicly questioning why people didn't leave the second tower on 9/11, even after they had ample warning. I just cannot imagine it.

Why can't they just have sympathy and save the lecture for their kids?

13. If ANY NO official tells the TRUTH about what has happened, the idiot will
make them pay and cut funding, rescue efforts and resources. They don't DARE open their mouths or he will make them pay dearly and they know that. Have you noticed not one NOLA politician, local or federal, has said ANYTHING bad about this administration? Not one. They know how vindictive they are.

5. Anyone that is not entrenched in the admin
Anyone that isn't trotting the party line of the Bush Admin. would see after being exposed to this, that this is absoloutely the worst moment in American history. Even Shepard Smith on Fox showed some glimmer of humanity yesterday.

All thanks to our glorious administration, we are so poorly prepared and Americans are dieing.

I weep for our nation.

she said "elected officials" will be held accountable for this. Did she mean the democratic Mayor and Governor or the idiot in chief?

12. exactly
I get the feeling they're going to lay this at Blanco's doorstep - although clearly it's a failure of the federal gov't.

Larry King did the same thing last night, trying to goad Mary Landrieu about the poor response. She didn't take the bait, I suspect because she also knew where this was headed. They'll never turn on the chimp, but will gladly savage a Democratic governor.

it's time for the Democrats to have the courage to take on the Worst Administration in American History.
