FReepers: we need to drill more oil off coast, take away environmental
laws and open anwr, as well as take away gas taxes to prevent gas price hike

in truth---no, we just need to prosecute price gouging.
taking away environmental regulations will cut a few cents off a gallon. Taxes amount to about $40 cents in high gas tax areas. Drilling will provide only a tiny fraction of our gas needs and not lower the price considerably, at a horrible expense to the environment which will see massive pollution

In short, their plan which ignores the real reason gas prices are high, will not work

3. That 40 cents is worthless when gas is over $5 a gallon.
Anything other than a call for alternative fuels is retarded.

4. What we need to do is one of their favorite mantras

Let the "invisible hand of the free market" guide the society. With ever increasing gas prices, this will force them to give up their Ford F250 Penile Enhancers, and start driving a more fuel efficient vehicle. Gee, and with all petroleum prices soaring, it will also force this country towards more renewable, cleaner fuels, and break our fossil fuel addiction.

Hypocritical freepers, always preaching about the miracles of the invisible hand, and how it should rule all. But when it starts to bite them in the ass, they're the first ones to go screaming for government intervention. Shit, I'm just doing what they should do if believe in the free markets so much, I'm adapting. Going to have a brand spanking new Bajaj scooter in a couple of weeks, and at 100 mpg, I will be lowering my demand significantly. They should do the same, it is after all the blessings of the free market.

5. But wasn't it the of shore drilling that was destroyed
in the hurricane? And making us more dependent on off shore drilling will make us LESS vulnerable to the next hurricane?

Someone explain this.
