OTHER COUNTRIES OFFERING HELP SHOULD SIMPLY SHOW UP AND START WORKING
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 09:24 AM by growlypants
It would make my DAY (YEAR??) if that ASSHOLE Bu$h actually had these rescue workers THROWN OUTTA THE COUNTRY. He's done. He's absolutely done. I cannot believe that our GOVERNMENT (for the people by the people) is sitting around with their thumbs up their asses and offering ZERO assistance. Am I missing something here?

1. You DO know it doesn't work that way, right?
Politics aside, how would they get here?

6. Yeah, and wouldn't it be just peachy
seeing how quickly the fighter jets were scrambled in that case, as opposed to 9/11 when they weren't at all? :eyes:

8. Well, if Bush ordered a shoot-down on helicopters with supplies
for people on the Gulf coast, wouldn't that be something.

9. I doubt they'd SHOOT DOWN planes trying to airlift in supplies.
That would create such worldwide outrage and condemnation that this administration would simply not be able to withstand it

11. And get intercepted by fighters?
They'd be violating U.S. airspace.

5. I'd like to think, in better times, WE would've air-dropped supplies

even without a hostile government's consent.

Our federal gov't right now is hostile to the dying citizens--in the sense that they are turning down AID and obstructing other countries from helping.

7. In situations where the Governor can ask directly and not have to
wait for bush to agree, help is coming in. Here is an example:

"B.C.'s provincial Heavy Urban Search and Rescue team was leaving for Lafayette, La. on Wednesday.

The state's goveror's office had requested help from the team, Solicitor General John Les said.

"We're the first non-U.S.-based team to be requested," Les said. "They're going to be helping as many people as they can."

The 45-person Vancouver-based team is trained in urban disaster relief and had been dispatched to Southeast Asia after the Boxing Day tsunami."

14. C'mon, be reasonable
They wouldn't even make it through immigration.

The relationship between our countrys is far below zero.

Look at the remarks our environmental minister made:

and some of the american responses:

http://service.spiegel.de/cache/international/0,1518,372434,00.html

As usual, both sides are over the top.

In reality, help was offered, but also tents, water purification systems etc. are immediately available in Europe, they would need to be transported over the Atlantic. And what the tsunami teached us is:
The US is the only country with immediate worldwide reach.
While our ships were days away, america had started the help, in spite of Bush's delays.

So while we are able to offer help, we have less resources than the US itself and the responsibility of coordinating the help would still be in Bush's hands.
