Brother, can you spare a dime?

Reports have it that their entire gun selection has been cleaned out and I'm sure that wasn't the only thing taken. I am sure their stores "donated" a lot more. It doesn't break my heart. Walmart does not care about Americans only Profits.

It is pocket change, and they should be ashamed of that paltry amount considering their vast wealth and how their profits come from the very people who have lost everything!

I hate Wal-Mart as much as anyone, but the $1 million figure doesn't include the stores that have been flooded/looted. Not that I'm ever going to shed a tear for Wal Mart, but it is worth noting that this storm will cost them too...they may not even have a customer base in New Orleans by the time this is over.

These people control billions--they earned much of it from low income people like those who are now desperate for help. It won't even be noticed as a glitch in their lifestyle if the corp or foundation gives much, much more. I can't give millions, they can. That's all I mean.

Anything under 50 million per Walmart family member would be repugnant.

so, $1 million amounts to .00033% of their total revenues, or $1 in donation for every $300,000 in revenue.

CNN had a list of donations by companies earlier, Pfizer, J&J, Wal-Mart others, looked like between $250,000 and $4,000,000 in cash or goods (medical, food stuffs, whatever). I am not going to yell that its not enough, these companies while they make plenty of money, have also just taken the same beating that we have. Fuel prices are through the roof, they just lost how much in revenues from these stores getting flooded, lost an entire city's worth of revenue, and we are bitching its not enough?

Look, I am trying to be rational, sure, WalMart should, could, and probably will give more to the effort, but, the outpouring of support has barely gotten started, at this point, there are between 30,000 and 100,000 people that need shelter TONIGHT, and another 750,000 to 1,000,000 with no where to return to. Let's worry about tonight first, and then we'll worry about everyone antying up to get this wonderful city back on its feet.

Turn your anger into something productive, if WalMart donated $50,000,000 many would claim its not enough, because we all hate WalMart. Let's get these people safe & sheltered, THEN start screaming at the Wal Marts out there.

food, diapers, otc remedies,clothes, etc. NOW! Crushed? I really don't think so. They are huge--biggest corp. in the US--they need to lead. They have warehouses full of the items most needed now. This is not misplaced anger, this is well placed concern.
