FOUR DAYS LATER AND NO WATER DISTRIBUTED
this should have been the first priority...the entire country should be enraged over this nonsense...we are watching people dehydrate in front of us...they survived katrina, the flood...but they cant survive this pitiful excuse for a government

1. WHERE ARE THE BULL-HORNS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS?!
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 09:33 AM by cyberpj
News channels keep saying people don't know what is going on.

Where are the bull-horns and announcements?!

Every channel has a guy with a mike there showing the people but no one is announcing anything to them!?!?

I hope the world is noticing the Bush ineptitude.

2. Is our Red Cross down there?
I haven't had the TV on much, because all I see is either hand-wringing (by the journalists) or looting, and then I start crying, which doesn't do anybody any good.

Why is it taking so long for relief to get there?

3. Nothing? At all? Still??
I thought that by now they'd at least have gotten some water in. This is the first chance I've had to come here for any length of time since Katrina hit. Everything I'm reading is making me physically ill as it is, but I would have thought there'd have been some clean water, at least.

5. welcome to du xiamiam - I share your outrage.
:hi:

BTW - I heard they're not dropping supplies in the city because they don't want people to stay there. Unbelievable.

6. What the HELL ARE THEY DOING?
They aren't taking on the armed gangs.

They aren't rescuing people nearly fast enough.

They aren't giving out food and water to those who can't be rescued immediately.

They aren't evacuating the city, the highways, or even the Superdome.

Just what the FUCK is going on in New Orleans?!

I heard on MSNBC on XM radio a report from a journalist who had stumbled upon the Hell that is now I-10. She said one woman was begging, BEGGING, for water, another woman held up her 7-day old baby and screamed that the baby was dehydrated; another woman was shouting that her child is asthmatic. These people had been sitting out on this blistering freeway for DAYS. With NOTHING.

I am enraged. I don't expect perfection from the powers that be, but I do expect planning, sensible planning. Just a tiny drop of planning would have MITIGATED what we are seeing. These people are dying in front of us. They are dehydrating to death. Is America angry yet?

the people but talking about them.

7. I wrote this in another thread--The way it stand right now
Only the strongest will survive. The sick, children, elderly still trapped in the NOLA and other communities hit hard by the hurricane don't look like they're going to make it

18. Doesn't matter how strong you are, with the heat and humidity
and NO WATER for FOUR DAYS or longer, you won't survive. It friggin hot here in the south and the humidity is oppresive.
