This tragedy is showing us the ugly side of what our country has created..
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 09:30 AM by jeffrey_X
The inequities of our society created by racism, oppression and horrible government policies is now rearing its ugly head. And now that's it out in the open, people are having problems processing what they are seeing!! Especially conservatives.

These people have nothing to live for and this is really the source of all of the problems we are seeing this week.

I had trouble sleeping last night because I've been thinking about this issue for the past 24 hours after seeing the same footage over and over again.

4. I've been thinking the same thing...
The world knows America as this great, wealthy country and all of the footage they are seeing is of our poor minorities who don't have the resources to escape.

Don't you think the world is scratching their head and wondering how could this be?

2. For the longest time, conservatives amused themselves with
thoughts of "drowning the government in a bathtub," slashing all government programs except for defense, and imagining some utopia where the free market was king and all men were rugged individualists.

This fantasy has come partly true and has resulted in a tragedy which is almost too staggering to comprehend. The fear of "big government" translates into "the death of thousands" when put into practice.

Which, come to think of it, may have been the point all along.

3. New Orleans is the bathtub for Grover Norquist to drown government
This is what happens when you starve the public sector.

This is what happens when you drive out competent career government civil servants and replace them with partisan hacks.

This is what happens after 25 years of denouncing government as the problem.

This is what happens when planning is denounced as "socialism"

5. We've been cutting taxes and "rebuilding" Iraq when we should have
been taking care of America's wealth polarization and lack of infrastructure spending.
