Has anybody noticed what the job of the "task force" is?
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 09:39 AM by Walt Starr
Seems to me, this "task force" has been tasked with spinning the whole thing on national television instead of getting off their lazy asses and getting to work saving the lives of people who are dying from dehydration!

That's what I noticed is the "job" they're doing, anyway.

1. The head of FEMA keeps blaming it on the Mayor NO, and local officials
claiming that he never made an "official" plea for help, or for the National Guard. Which is total BS, because I watched almost every press conference and he asked for help more than once. The Mayor of NO also claims he tried on several occasions to call the president to ask for help and he would not return the calls.

4. This is simply incpmpetence at a criminal level
Bush* does not have a fricking clue as to what needs to be done and won't find out because he doesn't care.

This man belongs behind bars.

3. I watched WWL most of the day yesterday on Houston's Warner Cable.
Federal reps (civilian & military) were at a press conference--only speeches, no questions taken. Many gleaming promises were made--ships on the way, etc. At the end, the Feds proudly proclaimed the name of the task force (which has thankfully slipped my mind). They looked so proud.

Previously, a Parish President had been pleading for food & water. Many NOLA refugees had come to shelters already full of locals. He welcomed them but was quite urgent that supplies were NEEDED.

Later, a doctor begged for assistance. Hospitals lacked power, food, water & most medical supplies.

But the task force has a nice name!

(The Mayor was absent. I remember his anger when he was told the first attempt to fix the levee had been abandoned. Nobody had informed him--or offered an excuse.)

5. I seem to remember tons of tents coming into Florida after Andrew.
This is unbelieveable. Especially since you would think there should have been a plan somehwere
