This thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4541980

only has about 16 posts on it and it keeps falling off the front page!!! C'mon, DU'ers, we can do better than this!

1. I'm not sure the two are mutually exclusive.
Just because people aren't responding to the thread doesn't mean they aren't giving...

I don't know about everybody, but I'm capable of donating money and discussing events at the same time.

2. It would make me feel better if I could see that thread had
hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of posts on it. It was started yesterday, for pete's sake.

3. Maybe people are donating instead of posting about donating...

This is a pretty good community. I don't think there'll be any shortage of donations made here.

:)

15. I hope it's an attractive wig and not some sort of Ronald McDonald
thing. :-) Seriously, my husband made a donation for us before that thread got started, so I didn't feel a need to chime in with a "Done!"

21. take as much gas and water as you can carry
And baby wipes (unscented -- you don't want to smell that perfumed shit the live-long day) are great, too. My best to your relatives.

And yes, NO is scary shit. Makes me think about how our government is going to respond if there is a massive flu pandemic and the strain turns out to be highly lethal.

6. Although I donated (and should everyone else) I have a problem
with how the red cross has been handling this whole thing you see more pictures of them collecting aid than you actually see them offering aid

8. It doesn't hurt to push people
I didn't respond either, but we're donating through my husband's company which has offered to match donations 100% (Sanofi-Aventis, a French pharmaceutical co). Two of my husbands co-workers in NO have lost everything we have heard.

although I must admit I argue better than I donate, because I
don't have as much money as I do opinions.:bounce:

17. Please donate blood as well.
I can not emphasize enough how much this is going to be needed continuously in the months ahead. There needs to be surgeries, injuries attended to, transfusions for illnesses and the nation's blood supply will not hold up and it will go for the most urgent first. It will be a tragedy that we all can help prevent now. The issue is that there are no more places in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama to give and store blood until the power comes back, so please I beg you to give money and donate blood. Every first responder who gets injured will need it as well as those being rescued. Please...
