BRACE YOURSELF--Huge # Begin Dying today--Then Rise of Disease!
You cannot go longer than 3 days without water. People are reaching that limit today. The number of dying is getting ready to go straight up.

Already bodies are piling up in the buildings and in the water. Third World countries know that dysentery kills more people than any other thing --naturally arises from dead bodies and lack of sanitations.

We are facing a major health crisis as disease takes hold. THis was the major consideration when the order was given that the entire city of New Orleans be evacuated.

THe truth -- there is no way logistically to evacuate everyone, and many are going to die while waiting.

1. We might not be able to evacuate...
...everyone in some arbitrary time. But we could get them food and water and supplies enough to survive to until rescue can be effected. This is nothing short of murder.

4. Where's Cheney, the Director of National Preparedness?
Have a bad feeling. No way to save people. No way to salvage the city. When do the levees give way and wash the problem away?

8. Remember Galveston? 6,000 dead. They took the bodies out to
sea and dumped them. A few days later they started washing up on the beaches.

There's no *washing away* the dead.

10. They work on the premis of dealing with immediate appearances
No one will see bodies washing up if they don't allow it. America is too trained to 'outta sight, outta mind' That is why reporters and camera crews are not showing the reality of the situation now.

18. You're right. They can distract the slow ones in the country
by showing looting clips over and over. They'll never wonder why that was ALL they learned about this whole event.

11. Yes,
pretty soon they're going to have to start funeral pyres to prevent more disease spreading. And people may never know anything about their loved ones.

7. A Dunkirk type operation....
...involving loosely organized private volunteers and their boats mounted immediately after the storm and before armed looting began could have easily rescued the vast majority of those whom FEMA has now condemed to death.

21. Exactly!
Why isn't every private plane/chopper in the uneffected surrounding areas being used to transport food/water by air into the city until those folks can be rescued????

I cannot believe what I am seeing!

9. But, but...a professor said on CNN dead bodies
pose no health threat WHATSOEVER - that this is just some kooky idea the press has! Also critcized the media for being irresponsible by saying dead bodies can cause health problems! He said the biggest threat now is...WEST NILE VIRUS!!!

And NO!, I'm not kidding!

12. It may not have been possible to evacuate EVERYONE, but there appears
to have been NO consideration given to any plan for TRYING to evacuate those few hundred thousand without the money or means to evacuate themselves, without cars etc.

It is, quite simply, a disgrace.

15. I've reached my breakingpoint today.
It has been a horrible week watching my city be destroyed. The thought of all those people needlessly dying is too much. I know without question that some of them are my closest and dearest friends.

I held back the tears as long as could, but I can't deal with it anymore. Sorry, I know this is not about me and my grief, but I can't take it anymore and just had to say it.
