Isn't denying International help a sign of genocide when people are dieing
Bush denies international aid saying we would handle this ourselves...

Navy ships with food and water will not arrive for 3 days...

LA and MS towns are still without food or water...

Why can't they get these people some food and water? I could drive down there in a few hours and have some food and water... Why can't the US govt do better than 7-8 days after the disaster? At what point does this become at least become negligent genocide?

3. Holland, Russia, Canada
Even the Chinese who have a lot of experience with rescuing flood victims offered to send in teams, and so far we have turned them all down. After all, we're the big boys -- We don't need help from anyone.

16. I guess that is why this country has stagnated over the last five years
Bush* and the Republicans have done everything within their power to divide this once great nation. It has worked and we shall reap what has been sown.

12. The offers were made on Aug 30th and 31st, before safety was an
issue, countries had planes loaded, ready to go. If bush had accepted it, the help would have been there and, probably, safety would not have become an issue, imo.

18. Here is info from Daily Kos on the issue of bush refusal...
US won't let Canada help Katrina victims

On tonight's news, CTV (Canadian TV) said that support was offered from Canada. Planes are ready to load with food and medical supplies and a system called "DART" which can provide fresh water and medical supplies is standing by. Department of Homeland Security as well as other U.S. agencies were contacted by the Canadian government requesting permission to provide help. Despite this contact, Canada has not been allowed to fly supplies and personnel to the areas hit by Katrina. So, everything here is grounded. Prime Minister Paul Martin is reportedly trying to speak to President Bush tonight or tomorrow to ask him why the U.S. federal government will not allow aid from Canada into Louisiana and Mississippi. That said, the Canadian Red Cross is reportedly allowed into the area.

Canadian agencies are saying that foreign aid is probably not being permitted into Louisiana and Mississippi because of "mass confusion" at the U.S. federal level in the wake of the storm.
