shocked at what Carville said on CNN this a.m.

he actually said "everyone was told to evacuate" and in a meek way he added that the poor people had no way to evacuate and then he changed the subject.

I expected him to rail about the injustice of it all.

2. In defense of Carville
I think he will blast them when it's over, he is just concerned about getting help now.

I guess.

3. I tear up when I read things like this ... do they not realize that when
you're poor, you aren't able to just leave and go rent a hotel somewhere where it's safe. I can't even articultate it right now - I am just fuming

15. you know-
and you speak truth- we who know, and have voice must scream this ugly truth till no one can hide from it.
Time to hold the 'rich' accountable- time to hold the 'religious' accountable-
"To whom much is given, much will be required"- how does THAT fit in with your tax cuts for the rich, and keep more of your money and 'ownership society' mr righteous religous dis-passionate fraud.??

No where to run, no WAY to run, no ability to run-

so blame the victims- ??? cause then you can look in the mirror-??

So many don't have a clue- We need to educate them Paula- they need to wake up- we have to speak for those who are screaming on their flooded rooftops, and being told- "you should'a"-

I'm with you- we can use our voices, if nothing else- we can MAKE them see- like Cindy is doing- WE are america too.-
peace,
blu

4. Where would many of the people evacuate to if you have limited...
funds, no transportation or no relatives able to take you in. Motels and hotels would not take you for free and you need a credit card to get a room. I don't understand why some people can't grasp this simple reason.

9. I heard an interview on NPR yesterday with a man from a housing
project in Alabama.

He had a car, but he was the only one with a car in his extended family of 14 people.

He knew that even if they could leave, they had no money to live on while they were away.

As the interview was underway, you could hear a woman scream, "The lights are back on!"

Everyone in the background was shouting for joy. It brought tears to my eyes.

11. Actually, people with no way out
where suppose to head to the Superdome. They had free bus services to the Superdome from all over the city. The people that were stranded on I-10 were in walking distance to the Superdome.

I realize now that they are evacuating the Superdome, but they would of had a ride from there.

Some people are either too sick or too stubbord or really didn't take this seriously enough. Help was offered and there are probably a million reasons why they stayed in their homes. Now they are slowly being rescued and I pray they receive it.

14. I don't think the Superdome was the answer for all. Look what happened
with the people who are there. Can you imagine if even more people were there. If some people were too sick how were they supposed to get to the bus and even if the sick people made it to the Superdome they probably would have become sicker. Not enough help was offered and this didn't have to be if the federal government had proper plans for disasters. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.

17. did you see the people waiting in lines for HOURS trying to get in?
and then what???

Old women and disabled folks standing in the heat and sun???
being told to 'bring your own supplies'... my GOD- would they have said that to a large rich white community that was being forced to evacuate?
Forgive my learned cynicism, but i'd bet my life they wouldn't-
The neediest among society received too little too late- and we cannot in ANY way 'justify' that- then call ourselves the 'most caring nation'-
out of the other side of our mouths.

7. In Carville's defense, he's from N.O.....
I'm sure he's not very happy about what's happened to his hometown right now...in fact, I hope his family is okay.

10. Word of caution on Carville: His wife Mary Matalin was part of that
Bush Administration inside circle on Iraq. I would weigh everything he says, very cautiously. Also don't forget that he essentially gave Novak an out on Novak's last broadcast.

16. He also inexplicably was hired by the right-wing wealthy oligarchy
in Venezuela to hone their best possible p.r. for their recall campaign against Hugo Chavez.

Completely unacceptable for a Democrat.
