offers from other countries
Scottie just said we have received MANY offers from other countries and that we are NOT asking for assistance from other countries at this time.

so, Fox can shove it, once again. You'd think the White House would call its propaganda machine and tell them they are wrong. But then, that would require honesty in propaganda. Doesn't happen.

1. bush said, in effect, 'send cash money', what a bastard!
He wants the world to send 'cash money' so he doesn't have to ask his 'haves and have mores' for any sacrifice, unbelievable!

8. Yep, the country that touts itself as 'the richest country in the world'
says screw real assistance, just send 'cash money' so we can continue to keep the rich richer and not be inconvenienced with this 'incident'.

It is beyond despicable, imo.

Countries had planes standing by, planes full of supplies and people expert in their fields and bush says, no thanks, send 'cash money' instead. I am SURE you don't find that acceptable, do you?

4. I think he was talking about Americans sending cash - NOT other countries
He has rejected offers from other countries - saying we can deal with it - even though we obviously are not.

5. Canada has top notch water-purification technology.
These mobile units can pump out thousands of gallons of potable water every day. We're waiting for the word to send them.

<snip>
On tonight's news, CTV (Canadian TV) said that support was offered from Canada. Planes are ready to load with food and medical supplies and a system called "DART" which can provide fresh water and medical supplies is standing by. Department of Homeland Security as well as other U.S. agencies were contacted by the Canadian government requesting permission to provide help. Despite this contact, Canada has not been allowed to fly supplies and personnel to the areas hit by Katrina. So, everything here is grounded. Prime Minister Paul Martin is reportedly trying to speak to President Bush tonight or tomorrow to ask him why the U.S. federal government will not allow aid from Canada into Louisiana and Mississippi. That said, the Canadian Red Cross is reportedly allowed into the area.

10. I am reminded of the first submarine accident in Russia...
they refused help, out of an inflated sense of pride, and a two year olds mantra "I can do it by myself!"

we all know how that turned out, and the second time a sub went down, they took every offer for help that came in.

our government, and why anyone is surprised by this, does not learn from others or their own mistakes.
