Ellen DeGeneres's aunt loses everything in Katrina
11:31 A.M. - (AP) BURBANK, Calif. -- A shaken and emotional Ellen DeGeneres says her 82-year-old aunt had to quickly evacuate her home in Pass Christian, Mississippi, as Hurricane Katrina headed toward the Gulf Coast.

DeGeneres, who was born in Metairie, says her childhood was filled with weekends at her aunt Helen Currie's home in Mississippi, just over the state line from New Orleans. DeGeneres told A-P Radio yesterday that her aunt lost everything.

1. I know how she is feeling. My very best friend and mentor in my life
beside Mr A is a lifelong resident of NO and they had a place in Pass Christian. It's all gone. This disaster is of immense proportions.

i don't know anyone from new orleans, but i know ellen grew up there and she is desperately worried about family and friends right now. it's a connection i can make a little easier than i can with someone on t.v. who i've never seen before.

6. Pardon? No one said she was special.
Just because her aunt is not stuck on a rooftop in NO, doesn't mean that she doesn't have a right to be upset like anyone else would.
