IRAQ is one again the big ELEPHANT in the room the MSM won't discuss
-5,000 national guard troops from LA watched the disaster from West Baghdad.

-There are 2000 National Guard troops in Mississippi right now. More than 3500 Mississippi National Guard troops are in IRAQ right now.

-45% of LA National Guard Troops are NOT available

-As of April 2004, 40% of the troops GOING to Iraq to START their tours were from the National Guard.

There's ANARCHY in NOLA and the National Guard is undermanned to deal with this crisis due to the $300 BILLION quagmire in Iraq.

And WHY?

"After all, this is the guy who tried to kill my dad." - George Bush, September 2002

1. I'm looking for numbers on equipment in Iraq, too.
I shudder to think how much of our equipment (especially in the form of transportation) is over in Iraq instead of here, where it ought to be.

2. they are starting to discuss this
as more of the victims complain.

From the AP:

``I don't treat my dog like that,'' 47-year-old Daniel Edwards said as he pointed at the woman in the wheelchair. ``I buried my dog.'' He added: ``You can do everything for other countries but you can't do nothing for your own people. You can go overseas with the military but you can't get them down here.''

3. Just imagine if an earthquake hit the west coast tomorrow....
I mean, they had WARNING for this hurricane and Bush partied like it was 1999 until YESTERDAY. We have no resources to deal with this tragedy TODAY and people are suffering for it.

I hope nothing else happens over the next few months because the Gulf Coast needs all the help we can give right now.

Bush MUST resign. We NEED leadership.

4. More....
"Nearly 8,000 Guardsmen from Mississippi and Louisiana are serving in Iraq, many in combat support units. Two of the units, Louisiana's 256th Infantry Brigade and Mississippi's 155th Armored Brigade, contain engineering and support battalions that would specialize in tasks regularly used for disaster relief."
