Need help me with How Republicans don't learn from history
I am trying to respond to an e-mail from a friend with a few examples of how republicans are the ones who don't learn from history. He sent me an e-mail and one of his comments was about
how you can't negotiate with your enemies and the usual how they
only understand one thing which is war. Of course, thats the fault of
liberal teachers in schools and that's why we liberals never learn
from history but just like a Republican he couldn't come up with a
single example.

My response is only meant to encourage him not to follow the example of most conservatives by making statements like that
without backing them up with some examples. The only example I
can think of right now is how imperialism brought down the Roman
Empire. I would appreciate any help with more examples.

1. Here's a little history Bush could learn from:
Don't take a five week vacation the August after (ahem) "winning" a Presidential election despite getting an urgent warning that the nation is about to be struck by a dire catastrophe.

2. Republicans have a history of doing business with dictators they have
yet to learn from. Whether it's Prescott Bush dealing with Uncle Adolph, the Nixon administration snuggling up to Pinochet, or Reagan and Poppy Bush getting cozy with the mujahadin (which morphed into the Taliban) or Saddam (who morphed into . . . Saddam).

3. Thanks
This actually helpful as I never really thought about Prescott Bush's involvement with Hitler as an example but what better example
could you use than Bush's own fascist family.
