Does GW Bush's lying reveal a heretofore-unrecognized talent...
Recognized by some as an asset, but generally unknown to the rest of us?

I’ve always wondered why the GOP selected GW Bush as its candidate in 2000. Oh, I know he is the grandson of a GOP Senator and Industrialist with ties to Adolph Hitler, and he is the son of a former GOP Congressman, CIA director, RNC chairman, Ambassador to the UN, and US Vice-President and President, so there is certainly an insider’s advantage; he was selected simply due to connections and influence. However, I’m beginning to wonder now that GW Bush was selected for a heretofore-unrecognized talent—his ability to lie readily, repeatedly, and effortlessly.

First consider his initial remark when selected to run as Governor of Texas, "You know, I could run for governor, but I'm basically a media creation. I've never done anything…”(http://www.commondreams.org/views03/0316-02.htm). We all have to come accept that “media creation” means something not quite real and are not offended by “media creations” of fantasy told in electronic narratives. We are entertained by such creations when we watch movies and television. But, we draw a line when “media creations” are used in objective reporting, such as news stories. One only needs to recollect the 2000 campaign when the news media constantly reported lies about Al Gore while never telling the truth about G. W. Bush. In essence, Bush the Deserter became Commander in Chief potential, Bush the “drunk/coked till he was 40” became the Family Values advocate, Bush the Business Failure became the espouser of “Run Government like a Corporation,” and so on and so on, all due to the (now discredited) news media.

But, I write this only to suggest why Bush was selected. As Bush said, he is a “media creation.” And with this designation comes the story-telling so ingrained in media creations. Could someone or some people have actually seen in GW Bush someone who can not only “take orders” from shadow interests, but who can lie without remorse or moral dilemma when called on to protect those interests?

It now appears that the Iraq War was planned years before 9/11 (http://www.newamericancentury.org/iraq-013098.htm). PNAC advocates needed someone who could 1) get elected; 2) take orders, and 3) lie vociferously. We all know how Bush got “elected” and we all have a pretty good suspicion who is really running the White House. That leaves the lying. Consider how Bush’s character was built:
1) He has never worked for a living; therefore lying is easier (try repeated lying at work and see how long you hold a job). It becomes more difficult to engage in repeated lying if one is living from paycheck to paycheck. In essence, economics dictates “honesty.”
2) He has had no responsibilities. Responsibility requires honesty (truth) with others as well as one’s self.
3) He is a (former) drunk/druggie. Not wanting to besmirch drunks and druggies, but such lifestyles are ripe for opportunities to lie.
4) He describes himself as an “oilman”—a corporate executive. Again, not wanting to besmirch corporate executives but that position is ripe for increased opportunities for lying. Consider one example: the insider trading scandal of GW Bush selling his shares in Harken Energy (http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/1030-06.htm).
5) He is a braggart, a bully, and an egotist. All require lying to some degree.

So, could GW Bush have the “qualifications” to lie readily and effortlessly? And lie in a BIG way? OF COURSE! Lying is second nature to him. He's had a lot of practice in many environments conducive to lying.

With this in mind, it would be interesting to know who saw these “qualifications” in Bush and recognized his potential contribution to the “shadow interests,” enough so to have him groomed for the Presidency. Was it someone who knew Bush for years/decades? Someone who saw and heard him lie repeatedly day in and day out? Someone who might have thought to himself, “This fellow lies about EVERYTHING. Might be useful in the future.”

Many of his lies have been documented, but I believe the SOTU will be his downfall. His lies about Iraq have costs thousands of lives and billions of dollars. And his most recent “creation,” that Saddam refused UN inspectors into Iraq, is just plain beyond the pale.

1. It's not a lie, if you believe it
And with brain his size, he often thinks there are actually little people inside the television set.

3. Repubs just loooove those sociopaths...
I'll never forget how they fell over themselves for Nixon--the stinking, grudge-holding, power-mad liar. And they all thought Ollie North was a "hero". Now they've got a moron, chinless-wonder liar, and veteran, routine liars like Cheney and Grumpy Rummy to back him up should he occaisionally slip and tell the truth. :eyes:

One thing about it...when they pick liars, they don't mess around with SMALL liars--they go for those regular, REPEAT, "bat-of-an-eye" liars every time! x(

B-)

I live in Texas and that stupid f***er was my governor. When I first saw him I immediately recognized him for what he was: a stupid lazy rich f***. I wondered why he would want to be governor. I still remember the moment as it hit me with chilling clarity: THEY want him to be president and this will be his "experience". Dubya wasn't selected based on any "abilities" becuase HE DOESN'T F***ING HAVE ANY. He was name recognition and easily manipulated by the PNAC crowd.
