I can't believe our government is so incompetent

I mean not to this extent. This is fucking amazing. The people that are trained to deal with this shit are off fighting a war they didn't get training for. I am just utterly amazed right now.

And saddened that my fellow americans are dying because of this incompetence.

I believe that they just don't give a shit about poor, mostly non-white people. Other countries have offered to help and Bush won't let them. They're doing this on purpose. :grr:

Why did they not airdrop supplies in within 12 hours is beyond me.
They did in Sri Lanka.

But, to me, the chickens are coming home to roost. This is what happens with the government is only concerned with world power, corporate interests and propaganda.

They have been gutting agencies, national guard, you name it in Louisiana.

I have the utmost respect for civil servants, but I can tell you from personal experience that nine times out of ten, politics trumps safety, common sense, rationality, EVERYTHING.

That why the director of FEMA has absolutely ZERO emergency preparedness experience, why DC's homeland security budget was used to pay for Bush's inauguration, why we treat drug use as a crime rather than as a public health threat (which would be a hundred times more effective), why the FBI doesn't have a functional case tracking system, why useful medications are delayed from release because the religious reich will whine, why an entire agency of attorneys was fired in 2001 and replaced with attorneys who two months before were on the side of the corporations the government was litigating against, why long-time scientists are leaving the feds in droves because they can't conscionably hide information that the Bushistas don't want to see published.
